Does anybody else get water accumulating inside the door space? After heavy rain (or a car wash), the water in both my doors seems to get trapped and only pours out the drainage hole when the door is opened. Seems bizarre that the door forms an almost water-tight seal when closed! Suspect its something to do with the wax in the door but can't be healthy to constantly drive around with half a pint of water in the door cavity.

Check your carpets, i had a similar issue a few months ago which turned out to be a smashed grommet & missing seal in the firewall. My carpets on the drivers side were soaked front to back.

Drivers side carpet was getting soaked every time it rained hard and I finally had enough and took into the garage. I'd assumed water was coming in through the door, but they diagnosed a leaky windscreen, which has just been taken out and resealed. They appreciate the door water issue (as had seen before with other cars) but didn't really know what to do about it. I poked at the holes in case they were blocked (with the wax), but it seems they only plug up when the door is closed!

I do, not tonnes of water but a little. It can be next day, driven several miles, open passenger door and some water pours out onto the sill. Not a lot mind, maybe 50ml.
