I just purchased the Vortech supercharger system with the V3Si supercharger. Got it all installed and loaded the tune (FHVJ129) included on the SCT X4 tuner or at least I think I loaded it and it basically bricked my car. It runs but spits and sputters. It threw engine codes P0183 P0193 P061 and U016C. All these seem to point toward the fuel system, but ive went over everything twice and can't find anything. I tried loading the program again and the same thing. I loaded the stock program and the car fires right up and idled fine. I contacted Vortech and they suggested updating the firmware on the SCT, I did, but the best I can tell, it's all the same. I would have thought they would update the tuner when they put the Vortech program on it, but whatever. I'm going to add a Snow methanol injection system, and will probably either get a emailed tune from someone or take it to Injected Engineering and get them to dyno tune it, but i'd really like to drive it there to be tuned on the Vortech tune.
Any thoughts or experiences on this or suggestions would be most appreciated. I posted this on another site, but there appears to be a good but more traffic here.
Thanks
Kelly

Is the tune setup for your strategy? It's not a one tune fits all. The ECM's have many different srategies.

I recently installed the same kit and didn't have any issues with the tune. I do remember reading that the tune would only work for cars with a manual transmission. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have an automatic.

Good question. I think it's a one tune fits all tune, but as I'm trying to get more learned about tuning, how can they do this without knowing my PCM/ECU code? I bought my car in June 2015, but if I'm understanding things correctly, there's even a difference between the 2015 and 2016 computer that has caused some ripples, so how can they offer a kit for 2015-2016 without asking what year and PCM specifically? Glad I don't have to have emissions this year to get my tag. My birthday is coming up and in Georgia, you have to have emissions and a tag by your birthday, with a bricked car, that isn't happening. Maybe I'll get some satisfaction today, but who knows.

Supposedly its a tune developed by Vortech, but the guy I talked to at Vortech acted like SCT did the tune. I talked to Matthew at SCT who said they did not support custom tunes, so who knows. I expected to have some bumps in the road, but this has really been a pain. Tune doesn't work, the throttle body spacer that Snow performance sent wasn't the right one, so I had to drill and tap the one from Vortech, there are a handful of components that would have been helpful in the Vortech kit as well. I mean, how do you splice and lengthen a coolant line with only one union? I spent about an extra hour getting all the silicone couplings just right so everything would fit together. Seriously! If one coupling would have been about an inch longer, it would have saved me at least an hour of time and because all the hoses were just a fuzz on the short side, the clamps all hit right at the bump on intercooler and the intake tubes and really required clamps that were just a fuzz bigger. I ended up at Home peepot several times getting dryer vent clamps of varying sizes to make it all go together a little better. I guess its easy to complain...I'm sure 5-10 years ago, kits like this were almost nonexistent. Maybe not, I kind of remember the track event at the 35th Anniversary Mustang show in Charlotte and a late 80's early 90's car running around the track with a centrifugal supercharger on it.... I mean heck, this is a long way from scrounging in the junkyard for parts when I was in high school. But there again, I didn't shell out the same kind of cash for them either.
Thanks!

I do have a manual. Good to hear someone has had luck. Maybe its something I did wrong, but I figure if it runs on the stock tune, it has to be their tune...right?
Thanks!

Do you remember what the name of the tune said? It looked like this was the name on mine. "FHVJ129" can't help but think they gave me a tune for a Peugot or something.

I have seen corrupted files cause all kinds of issues. Contact who you bought the kit through and insist they help you resolve the issue. If they don't assist post who they are so the rest of us don't buy anything from them.

After sales support is huge.

I wish I could help you with that, but I no longer have that tune or the SCT tuner that came with the kit. I had a custom dynotune made by a local shop to go with other changes I made, and now I use a Diablo tuner. Lance at Vortech is their tuner and could likely help you out. He provided support to the shop that did my custom tune as there were questions when it came to what changes were needed for the ID1000 injectors I installed.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I should try to talk to Lance. I bought it from Jegs. I emailed them and haven't heard a peep. I just left Mariano at Vortech a message, I talked to Jason yesterday who said Mariano was out and would be back today. I hate to go all gonzo on them, but what a cluster f!

I forgot about the Sprint Booster Throttle enhancement trick I have on the gas pedal. I chatted with Ray from Jegs and had him go back to Vortech. They're saying it is the Sprint Trick causing this. They said return it to stock, unhook the battery and unhook the pedal programmer and give it a try. I'm skeptical, but what else have I got to lose?

I went by way of Beefcake Racing to get a Lund tune. They got it turned around really quick and offered a couple suggestions on parts and add-on items to make the best out of the setup (VMP BAP and 55 lb injectors). I just loaded the tune, I did leave the Sprint Booster unplugged just in case and so far so good, it fired right up and idled just fine. After trying so hard with the Vortech tune I was a little gun shy that it was going to be the same way and not run. Man! You can't imagine the heat and stink eye I was getting from the Misses on breaking my "perfectly fine the way it is" car and it sitting in the driveway for 3 weeks.
Thanks Terry Reeves and Jon Lund!
