Do the Vortechs still require an oil line or are they self contained now? How loud are the vortechs and prochargers now? I had an old procharger on my 92 coupe and it was obnoxious.

vortech and paxtons have the v3 and 2200 offering in self lubricated

they also have many options in oil fed.

it's all personal preference, tapping the pan takes all of about 3 minutes, but you do have sl options if you don't want to

they also offer quieter and louder superchargers too

procharger kits are sl, they also have quiet or louder gear options too

we do more centri kits than anyone out there and can help you out with complete kits, tuner kits, or custom packages with lund tuning

Which charger is more efficient. I know the vortechs were more efficient in the past but it has been a while since I looked. Are there any advantages or disadvantages between the bracket setup on vortech and procharger?

As far as efficiency, both companies will have different head units which will effect it's efficiency,

Example is, if you take a big ysi or f1 and stick it on a stock car that you only want to run 8 or 9 psi, you don't be close enough to the blowers peak efficiency for it to work well, Do you should want to run a v3 or p1. Or maybe the next step up

Both bracket systems I would say have potential to go really fast, we've been 8.17 " vortech s and would have no problem going 7s with a larger blower

I notice the vortech mounts the charger in the center and the procharger is off to the side. Is one bracket setup easier to install and maintain ( Like changing belts). I was leaning towards a whipple or roush but now I am thinking about a vortech or procharger. My goal is 650ish to the wheels but I might want to step up the head unit for more growth potential in the future.

I get this question a lot, as far as "changing belts, and not really sure why

on the shared drive with a vortech / Paxton, you shouldn't need to change the belt any more often than you change the belt on your stock car, every 30, 40, 50k etc..

that said, it takes us about 15 minutes to change a belt.

on the dedicated drive of the procharger, thesupercharger belt itself should take just a few minutes

I had issues in the past with the belt on my shared drive vortech on a 96 cobra. I also had belt issues with an old procharger kit on a 92 coupe.

We have 4.5 years and thousands of passes and have never lost a, belt.

With the current bracket system it should be a non issue

That's the old days, man. I, too, spent many times on side the road changing belts in my powerdyned then vortech'd 95. Even slung a couple on my 03 until I fixed the problem. Used to have to keep belts in the trunk. Back then, a separate belt was a selling point due to being able to drive it when (not if) the belt slung.

It's not like that anymore. Rest assured that they have the belts sorted out.

On a different note, beef, are the vortech base setup (650ish whp target) self lubricated?

I think the base setup uses the v3 which is self lubricated.

I had a vortech v3 on my 14 and now have a billet wheel jt trim on order from beefcake for my 15. HE is the man to go to for the centri setups and either way you go you will not be disappointed.

Agreed. I bought everything except my MGW from him - including my PC stage 2. Top notch.

as far as an "advantage", no, the cases are the same, just personal preference
