I have the Sync 3 and the outside temp is at the top center of the home screen. My car is parked in a shaded garage. Temp inside the garage is in the 70s. 80 tops. Often, when I start my car the ext temp is displayed as more than 100 degrees. Sometimes 101, 102 - I've even seen 110. The intake temp also seem unusually high when this happens. After 20 minutes or so, it will randomly "kick on" and start reading a more accurate temp.

This is not a function of the car being parked on a hot tarmac.

Does anyone know where the temp senor is actually located?

Am I correct that the external temp and the intake temp are linked? They seem to move together.

Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Nope. My car sits in a garage. We live in the deep south so 95+ weather is a regular thing here in the summer. The interior of my car in the garage is never that warm. I want to say in the low 70s and 80s until it gets pulled into the sun. Only time I have seen 110 in the car was when it sat out in the sun all day at work without the windows cracked.

Weird.

My stang doesnt have that problem, but I've definitely owned other cars that do similar things to what youre describing. Car temperature readings seem to be an inexact science.

I have noticed the same thing. I was driving and it was certainly 90-92 outside. But the temp output was 102. It did drop eventually and I am not sure what got it rise. Today, the car read 80 and again it was in the low 90's. It does seem to be accurate more times than not.
