So i've been looking into getting a v6, the only thing that really bothers me is that there doesn't seem to be any brake upgrade kits for it and the small front brakes really bother me. However, not enough to justify spending thousands more on an ecoboost with a performance package.

It seems the Brembo front brake upgrade kit will only fit on Gt's and ecoboosts...not really sure why. Maybe the ecoboost performance package brakes will fit?

Any suggestions or insights? Thanks guys!

Are you planning on turbo charing the engine? The standard brakes are more than fine.

Firehive on the V6 forum bought a set of used loaded front brake calipers with bigger rotors from a 2015 GT Convertible w/ 4 piston calipers (our base V6 are 2 piston) who was himself going bigger still. I don't remember the details, but he said it was a direct bolt on / fit.

EDIT: Here you go. Here is the thread he started on base model brake upgrades with tons of great info on the differences of diff. models!

Here is the used set up he got on Ebay... (won auction FOR $260 ! ! !):

You can PM Firehive for more info and his experience over time with his upgrade. Also, ask if he'll post an update to his thread (above). :)

From what I understand, larger calipers & rotors do NOT stop you faster, only larger/better tires will do that. The benefit of larger calipers/rotors is only when used heavily on a track while racing or maybe if you brake heavily while driving fast on a long downhill windy road. Basically they reduce brake fade under extreme use where rotors and pads get overheated.

Oh, well, and they look cool! ;)

Davekro pretty much got it.

Larger rotors (and calipers) would only be necessary if you are unable to engage ABS when you panic stop on the brakes hard. If that were the case, your tires have more grip than your brakes can overcome. Beyond that it's just about increased thermal capacity for track/mountain driving, or any other times you'd be using the brakes heavily.
