Hello all,

Is anyone actually getting the advertised 2.1amps from the media bin USB port?

My USB Charger at home usually charges my phone in under 2hrs @ 1.5amp.s

In the mustang with either center console or media bin USB port my phone says it'll take over 4hours to charge...

I'm wondering if I have a defective USB port.

Thanks!

Um... dunno; haven't tried to charge anything with the USB ports. Keep an iPod Classic plugged into the one in the center console at all times, charge my phone through the cigarette lighter.

iPhone 6 charges quickly here. As fast as on charger inside. Definitely lots and lots faster than the usb in my 11.

hmm I wonder if its my phone not accepting the amperage then. I looked at the owners manual and could not find anything actually stating they were 2.1.

Its only the press releases beforehand.

Some devices can draw 2.4 amps. If charging is important, I'd suggest a power port adapter that has one or more 2.4 amp ports.

I'm surprised how fast my I6+ charges in the car-->:clap2:

OP, test one of your friends/family phone's to determine if it's your phone or car that's the problem--><--Maybe it's the USB wire.

I just reread your post.

Have you actually tested to verify it takes that long?

We'll i'm definitely glad to see you guys are getting good charge times, gives me hope, hehe.

As for testing to see if it takes that long, I have not sat in the car for that long in one given period. BUT! on my 30min commute I Actually went from 89% to 83% lol, Granted I was streaming music over LTE, but you would think it would charge it as fast as its using power for just music streaming.

I think you guys are right about it being the cable/MFT though, when I connect my phone (HTC One M8) the silly phone will prompt me to install HTC Sync Manager as if it were a PC and it actually states "Device is not supported please remove".

I'm going to try with my gf's phone and then maybe buy a charge only cable to see what that does.

Thanks guys!
