I ended up ordering a car from the dealer I got a USAA Car Buying Certificate for. But I negotiated a slightly better price when I ordered, so did not end up "using" the certificate, whatever that means. However, if you get a loan through USAA, they give you a lower rate if you "use" their car buying service.

Does anyone know how they define "use"? Does the dealer have to put this in as a USAA/TrueCar deal in their system? Does it cost the dealer anything to do this (i.e. is there a kick-back to USAA or TrueCar?) that will make them not want to if I ask?

Thanks

i believe if you buy from that same dealer you're good. i did the same thing and got the discount. however i decided to refinance thru a credit union to drop down to 1.74

I think as long as you use the electronic USAA check to finance you're good, because I got the advertised 2.49% for 60 months
