can't your tuner just tune the ecu themselves? I mean that's what tuners are supposed to do is it not?
Cant offer any other advice other than find someone that can actually tune the ECU with the whipple attached and get the car trailed over to them.

Quite a reputable company with many Whipples installed previously so even until now I have had all my trust that somehow the issue is with the tune from Whipple or the car

oh i dont doubt they have a good rep but why they using a Whipple supplied tune when they could use a previous one they did to start with then customise it for your car. That'd be the obvious way to do rather than ping tune files across the pond.
Obviously this is a total pain for you, :(

Very frustrating
apparently Whipple ended up sending 4 different tunes and only the 4th ‘test’ tune ended up working without shutting off the car. Garage is waiting to get the final version by end of today and run full tests tomorrow.
Tracker company was not needed after all. Too late to claim back the money now
So, just so I understand, this had nothing to do with the tracker? Instead, 3 of the 4 Whipple tunes shut off the car?

Correct

The 4th tune was a test so they are still trying to write the completed tune based on Ford OS and not Whipple OS

Mate, I'm sorry for you, that's so frustrating. It just seems so odd, Whipple tunes are used all the time on UK cars with what I assume is no issues. I assume the shop finds it equally perplexing.

From bad to worse

Friday pickup seems to be cancelled again as Whipple have apparently asked for some data logging before handover to make sure everything is 100% so they will only be able to confirm tomorrow because of the time zones.
Next week’s work schedule is very busy because of the holidays so I am stuck on what to do but also don’t want the car there over the holidays. Is it an unusual request to ask for a weekend pickup considering the situation?

On the other hand they are also ‘confused’ on why Tracker charged me to arrange a callout but not refunded the money when I only cancelled in less than 24hours.
Unfortunately my trust and confidence in the garage has diminished to a minimum no matter how good of a rep they have from other users
.

Fck me what a sht show. Shurely they can log it on the dyno confirm it's safe and give it to you to road test it (try staying out of WOT) and then get the logs from it afterwards. Yeah that garage are filter spinners not tuners, i feel rage on your behalf! Utter spanner monkeys.

Does the distance selling act cover you for this? I mean booking something over the phone / internet then cancelling it within 14 days is perfectly legal. I'll say it again, what a sht show.

Defo get the car back, stuff leaving it there and in fact if i was you I'd be looking for a tuner than can do this stuff from the ground up cause Whipple will warranty nothing, not in the UK anyway?

Thanks. Well since then they said they are happy to stay the night and get it sorted it with Whipple and hopefully keep to Friday pickup.
Out of courtesy a free service as well for the Tracker hassle.
So far it sounds all in all a better situation until I hear more tomorrow morning with a confirmation.
Thanks for the comments, will have to take it from Friday morning in terms of next actions

Whipple still messing about and the garage obviously doesn’t do their own tunes.
They are not even hopeful of Monday anymore and now saying New Year’s. Got offered a courtesy car, a Golf R.
Told them about UK tuners as others suggested and they don’t think it would work before the New Year. My fault for having trust in the garage and Whipple to fix this until last minute fxck ups again
Lost for words. Having to make a 3 hour train journey now just to pickup a Golf R

Last hope is to contact MAP and as long as they are comfortable sorting it before end of next week then I will try my best to make the garage send the car there but close to no hope

What a mess. Garage is sort of the middle guy here (many people wouldn’t say so, so Im being nice here) but I still would have hoped for backup plans much earlier on.

That garage wants to remove all references to them being tuners cause they ain't that at all. What a complete clusterfck. Really really feel for you over this.

Kind of complicated. They received a test file that ran and I think that was based on HP Tuner but it is not a complete file and the garage didnt feel comfortable handing it to me not knowing what bugs it might have. So they have asked Whipple to return the final version and still nothing. Last chance is basically tonight and I will find out Monday morning if any success with getting the file.

Golf R is with me for now so A BIT calmer now knowing I will have a car with me this weekend and coming weeks if everything goes wrong as planned ;(
Nice car but no match to even a normal Mustang. Already miss the manual transmission and fed up of random gear changes

damn i hope you get a good luck break on this but either way in your shoes I'd be getting a proper tuner to look over the map you get fitted. If Whipple are going to supply a locked tune then just walk away, get your car back and go somewhere that's able to tune from the start and you have access to. No one should be locking tunes outside of the OEM imho

The whole situation isn't ideal whatsoever and rightly you're not happy, but to be fair the garage are probably just as frustrated as you are. From your previous posts I can work out which garage has your car and they've got a pretty good reputation, so most likely the issue is with the tunes Whipple are providing them than anything else and the garage aren't comfortable with giving you a car they wouldn't drive themselves. I know it's frustrating when you've just dropped 5 figures on a blower, but the garage are probably trying their hardest to get your car sorted and back on the road, but with our cars it doesn't help that most of the suppliers are in different time zones and won't work to our timings. If the garage can't get a good tune from Whipple I'd highly recommend Wortec. They've had a couple of Whipple cars from another well known UK specialist which allegedly drove like crap, Wortec went to the effort of writing a custom operating system for one of them with HP Tuners software to fix the issues and I believe the owner is now very happy as it works and actually makes more power than it did before. Whether they can fit you in any time soon I don't know, but they did my tune for my headers and were brilliant, I'll fully be using them in the future as plans are to get a Roush phase 2 kit fitted to mine. They can also do tuning remotely which helps if you're a bit far from them. Fingers crossed your car gets sorted soon, no one enjoys it when issues like this happen
