Upr whipple catch can

So it looks like drivers side big cylinder sits on top of vakve cover and you plug the hose to bottom of air inmet elbow.

Does this sound right? Need to be emptied periodically? Seems like the oil goes up then back into valve cover if thats the case seems great why doesnt drivers side do that so it doesnt have to be drained?

Can anyone explain if i did something wrong or explain logic on how this should work?

It should come from the valve cover to the top of the can and then from the side of the can to the TB/intake track from my experience with my UPR unit

Yes, thats how it is supposed to be mounted. I put 4,000 miles on mine and only ever saw a residue inside the can so I don't think you will need to empty it much if at all.
