Just thought I would spread the love to our EcoBoost brethren. In the Cyclone community we found a quality turbo specialist who does custom turbo upgrades for great, and I mean great pricing. Example, he took the stock 2013 F150 3.5 EB turbos we use to do twin turbo conversion on the 3.7L from a 51mm to a 59mm compressor, custom turbine, custom HD internals along with front and rear step gapless rings. This gets equates to a 59mm compressor in 11 blade, 6 blade and 7+7 blade configurations. He can also will clip the turbine or install a bigger turbine wheels or a turbine wheel upgrade (involves boring the turbine housing out to fit). This is on the small stock twin ecoboost turbos and all for around $1200 for TWO not one.

He has been looking to to partner with someone using the stock 2.3L EcoBoost turbo as proof of concept to see what he can do with it. If someone does this they could save some good money and get a heck of a performing turbo. He here is some picks of his upgraded twins.

Here is the comparison of stock turbine wheel (left) and his upgrade options. The 59mm is on the right.

Last photo. Stock EcoBoost turbo vs the rebuilt and upgraded one (59mm). It's a great comparison photo.

Shoot me a PM with his contact info. I might know a person or two that would be interested in this.

Just go to the website (https://www.turbobayperformance.com) and contact him there with an email. Its just him running the show. He has expressed interest in breaking into the EcoBoost scene. I know little more than that...I leave the rest and test up to you all.

Those are my custom turbos for my 3.7 posted above. The owners name of Turbobay is Matt and he has expressed interest to me in two different phone conversations of modifying the ecoboost Mustang turbochargers. So I know he’s looking for someone for a fact. Not only does Matt modify stock turbocharger units for various platforms, he also has a contract with a race team and modifies turbochargers for them. Turbobay is located in Florida.

This is definitely a future trend.... it used to be all about "porting your Eaton blower." Now, its about porting the stock turbo. Nice...

Yeah but there is a bit more to it then that, this guy basically installed HD guts and custom gapless seals. These aren’t just put a bigger compressor wheel in a ported compressor cover.

Yes you would because you would be flowing more air. To give you a comparison, the stock turbos I had have a 51mm compressor wheel, a common upgrade for those turbos are the ones that are run on the Ford GT with a 54mm compressor, same everything else (turbine, internals, etc.). Just the Ford GT upgrade (bigger compressor) stretches the power band to redline.

Now the turbos I had custom made have 59mm compressor wheels, HD guts, custom gapless seals and clipped turbine (bigger turbine upgrades are available for the turbos I have). Huge upgrade over stock and Ford GT units.

Awh. I see, I have the ford perf tune, so I’d have to get another tune if I did that.

If you want to maximize the potential of the upgrade then yes you get a tune. Could you run the upgraded stock unit with the ford performance tune...you could, but you would be wasting your investment and I wouldn't recommend it.
