Whatever makes you feel better about getting bent over at the dealer. People can research and inquire on the weekends, evenings etc. Your argument sucks lol.
Oh even better so they lose time with their families outside of work which has no value. Even worse argument. Again what you don't value doen't mean everyone doesnt.

Keep digging with that shovel and that mature comeback there bud.

The main major fallacy in your argument is that you assume that time has no value and than anyone who paid over MSRP is thus a "sucker" for that.

Time has value to a vast majority of professionals on this site who bill by the hour- doctors, lawyers, dentists, business owners, etc. Instead of spending "tireless diligence" calling 50 dealers, or say 10-20 hours searching, some of us can make the ADM money (and more) in that same amount of time actually working in stead of hunting for the needle in the haystack.

So blowing smoke in a vast generalization about people and their personal choices makes you wrong to begin with. If your time has no value then great, but others does.

Exactly. My time is not worth spending a couple days (weeks)trying to find an MSRP deal. Should we have to deal with ADM no but it is the free market, for those who got lucky and got msrp congrats. For those looking and can't find msrp, happy hunting and for those who paid ADM, congratulations for knowing the value of the car is not always reflected on the window sticker and certainly not the eyes of people who criticize your decision to buy it.

I had a few comments thrown my way justifying their choice in paying ADM, defending Brian with his typical dealership practices, what's the key in finding one at sticker etc...

To the OP, finding one at sticker at this stage in the game? Well it's very late. If I were you I'd start speaking with dealers about 2017.

To the rest of you who directed comments toward me, I'll be taking delivery of my car most likely by the end of the year. It's been built, released from the factory and may or may not be heading my way right now. I worked with tireless diligence over a year ago to find a great dealer who will be handing over the keys of my car after I stroke them a check for MSRP. I talked to a hell of a lot of dicks over the phone before I found the dealer I eventually ordered from.

If you paid an ADM, you got suckered and squandered your money. You allowed your infatuation and compulsiveness to get the best of you. The value of my car will be exactly the same as yours, given identical options. You lost the game and the dealer won. To justify to yourself you say 'it's my money yada yada'....yeah it is, and you wasted it, and you know that, and you'll look at your car with that voice in the back of your head 'you paid too much'. If you admit paying ADM to your friends you expose weakness. Nobody respects someone so compulsive which is why you'll keep it to yourself.

My dealer and I? Well we both won. They're getting this sale, one in Jan-Feb, one next fall, one when my daughter is of driving age in two years, referrals from friends and colleagues etc etc. I've found the dealer that I'll always do business with because they VALUE me as a customer. And I value them because they've treated me fairly, didn't rip me off and didn't even try. For now on when I buy a Ford, I'm going to see them.
Everyone who bought a GT350 squandered their money. Buying a 50k+ sports car is not exactly a frugal investment.

Buying a new car is a waste. Tracking a car is a waste. Making modifications is a waste. Because some people waste their money in a way that you disapprove of, you create yourself an imaginative "high horse" to climb on and dispense with your scorn. And you wonder why people mock you?

waste

play noun \ˈwāst\
Simple Definition of waste

I agree, my time is worth $250 per hour and I'm a relative "newbie" in my field for only 4 years in. People in here bill $500, $750, even more per hour.

It doesn't take many hours to make the ADM money instead of calling dealerships like a madman. For me even at my relatively low hourly rate its 20 billable hours, or 1-2 good new clients, that pays a $5k ADM no problem. For people who make more per hour it could be a lot less effort to make that $5k ADM- where it's actually less time working than calling around.

And to some time with their families out of work is more valuable than the ADM cost. Good for them, they have their priorities straight.

Damn ADM trolls.

Investment in personal happiness IMO. :)
Exactly. And no one has any right to comment on what you do to make yourself happy. Everyone knows the risks before engaging in it- be it ADM for a car they really want or smoking or drinking, whatever it may be.

This is true, but to some free time lost is worth just as much if not more than time lost on the job. I work enough to highly value my free time, so after just a few hours of searching I gave up on anything on the west coast and started planning on a 2017 and/or go well east and happened to get helped by a member here to secure an MSRP deal

As cliche as it sounds, time really is money, I can always make more money but you can't buy back time. I was willing to pay an ADM of 2k max since that would be equal to transport costs, so I don't find fault in those who paid a few k over to secure an early hassle free deal. Those who paid more or were late to the game, well I cant really fault them either, it's their money and they wanted an early car so that was the price to pay. Some were lucky/diligent enough to plant the seeds well in advance and/or develop a long lasting relationship (which also costs money) with a dealer, for everyone else you either have to wait, look long and far, or pony up. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

It wasn't that hard honestly. I did mostly on my office phone. A few calls and emails per day over a week.

Bottom line, sounds like you got suckered. Justify it however you want so you'll feel better about forking it over. I understand, we all do this to ourselves when we question our decisions. I'm sure you won't be offering how much you paid to your buddies however....

I definitely agree. It's a hobby. Hobbies cost money.

I'm just making a point. People that aren't car guys look at people like us like idiots for spending so much money on a car.

I just think it's funny how much uproar there is over a few grand. I've spent more to store and maintain my boat this season than most people spent on ADM's. It's pretty hilarious.

It's so obvious how much in denial many of you are over paying more than you should have. Just come to grips with it, don't do it again and move on. Everyone makes mistakes. Just keep it to yourself rather than exposing it here....
