I haven't heard anything back from Torrie regarding this which based on his quick responses for tunes has me at a loss. I know ultimately the burden is on me but I am trying to get to the bottom of what actually caused the failure so I can avoid it. Right now the answer seems to be, don't tune or go boom. If anyone has any thoughts I'd love input.

47k miles 2015
C&L intake
Mishimoto intercooler / piping
Boomba ecu controlled BOV

Ford obviously won't warranty me so I am out 6k+ on a new engine.

1) What were you doing? What was the ambient, water, and oil temps?

2) On top of all maintenance?

3) Where's your last datalog?

4) What failed? A "blown" engine can be a lot of things.

5) Was it a cleveland motor or spanish motor?

What is it that makes you conclude that the tune blew your engine?

All temps were good, I can pull my datalog and post it if you want to see it. There are two holes on the side of the block big enough to put my fist through. Ford tech said it was overboost. I am unsure of origin of the engine build, it did have an assembly plant sticker on it when I got it. I am pretty sure it said Michigan but I could be mistaken.

The Ford tech said it was overboosted and I don't have anything except basic bolt ons beyond the tune. I had the bolt ons before the tune and didn't have any issues. So my logic follows that I added the tune and a few months in it goes boom... must be the tune right?

You are in seattle, WA? If so, it is dipping into the 50s there... did you load the winter tune?

It's bad form to come on this forum and accuse a tuner, especially a reputable one, without proof. Hell, it's bad form to accuse without proof to begin with. On top of which, with all the ecoboom stuff, you knew the risk when you tuned. I just tuned with Unleashed and if my engine blows tomorrow, I'll shrug and get a new engine. It comes with the territory.

Now, what were you doing when it blew? Manual? Automatic? Is your tune pushing a lot of boost without an upgraded WGA?

I wasn't given a winter tune or any information on anything as such.

These are the kind of questions I am trying to get answered from the tuner himself. I agree it sucks to have to come on a forum and accuse him of such but since he won't answer my emails asking some basic questions about the work he did for my tune it proves to be my only option. I recognize that risk and I am not asking for someone to pay for my new engine. I just want some information from him. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Automatic, accelerating onto freeway, I was going maybe 45-50 when it blew.
I gave Torrie a complete list of my parts prior to my tune so if the tune was pushing harder than it should have based on my setup wouldn't that point to the tune being bad?

He is very reputable. I have used his tunes on 3 of my ecoboost vehicles with zero issues.

What was your tune called? If it were "summer" then you should have been sent a "winter" tune as well... unless he combined them into one tune.

That is exactly why I went with him, I had heard nothing but great things and his customer service in responding to emails up until now was amazing.
