Unleashed Tuning is a company owned by Torrie McPhail which uses SCT tuning software and hardware.

Hmmm. Given the choices up on the board, I'd pick Livernois.

I have a Cobb Stage 1 tune atm.
I like it -- but I want some more juice. :)

There are other tuners that are working on this car, but quite a few aren't on this board.

Freektune
Panda
FFTEC
MAPerformance
JLP

I'm not certain if I'm the one confused or if this thread is confusing everyone
Tuning device, Tuning software or tuning shop??????
If we start listing tuning shops that use Hypertech, SCT, HP Tuners, Cobb, etc. the list will be endless

Well, in that case which do you pick? The hardware or the tuner? If you pick hardware the list should only say - Livernois, Cobb, SCT, Ford Racing, and Diablosport (they are looking for a test car on SVTP, possible opportunity for someone).

The tuner is more important than the hardware for the most part so the list "should" be long to get all the choices out there.

remains to be seen
At this point device and software capabilities are a factor
I can't confidently explain what some have vs. others at the moment but I do know there are significant differences

Guys, relax, I think he meant for this to go in the V6 section because that's what he wants to get. :dnftt:

Unleashed, $399 + Torrie = A lot of bang for the buck.

I was under the impression after talking on the phone with customer service at COBB and Livernois that the various software that "tunes" the car's ECU could be easily installed by the user without the need of incurring the expense or expertise of a third party. Was this misleading or untrue?

Some of the comments suggest that a third party "tuner" is necessary. A tuner is what I would call a mechanic who installs the modification that I might not be qualified or equipped to do. While I understand that there can be a custom tune, I said at the beginning that one should assume that the use would be daily driving and not racing so, just the regular. THat should eliminate needing a dyno to obtain a custom tune. What I'm looking for is a product, not a service. I thought it would be an easy modification and not a major production. MAybe it isn't. Maybe many of you are wrenches and gear heads, I'm not.

As to other snide comments, they remind me of what I used to get at the Corvette forum that dissuaded me from wanting to associate with Corvette people.

Please assume that the tune is on an otherwise stock 2015 EcoBoost for, let's say, 91 octane. Say it's for daily driving and not for the strip or auto course. Let's say you have done some investigation and have some reason to pick one or the other.
You would choose which tune (I'm hoping a poll is posted here):
Hey Jamo - Being in the position I'm in here I'm obviously a little biased but it would be Bama all the way. Being employed here I get to work very closely with Paul and the Bama Performance team and we have some pretty "Big" plans for our EcoBoost that should be getting unveiled very shortly. Our Comp Orange S550 has a really big heart and despite only having had it on site for a few months we've broke some pretty good ground with her! I can definitely attest to the performance as it's put car lengths on my GT as well as some other employees V6's here (On a close track of course!)

If you haven't seen what we've been doing with it as of recent check out our trip down to North Carolina where we did some R&D with the guys at Kooks Performance:

If anyone's wondering what mods were on the car they're listed below:

- Airaid CAI
- Bama V2 Race Tune (same boost level as the tune their customers receive)
- 3" Kooks Catless Downpipe and Exhaust
- Prototype Intercooler and Up-Pipe Kit w/External Blow-Off Valve
- Full weight (no seats removed)
- 19" Drag Radials (not slicks on smaller drag wheels)

Here's a video from thatdudeinblue as well when she was just running the tune!

Here's a 6G Member running their tune as well!

If anyone's interested in running their setup I'm happy to work with you on pricing or if you'd like to try it I'm happy to facilitate this for you on the ground that you write up an honest review after the fact! If you like it, keep the tuner, if you don't, I'll cover the shipping back to us.

Alex
