I have a 2017 GT and have installed a Roush Intake that has the insert that can be removed. However, when removing the insert, a tune is required. This is the only mod that I have on the vehicle at this time and probably will not do a whole lot more to it in the near future, but I would like to get it tuned for the intake without the insert. I also don't want to have to pay $150.00+ just for this tune modification. I have an SCT tuner, but the canned tune alters how the car shifts, especially when downshifting. I like the throttle blip that it has now, but the canned tune takes it out and makes it shift really hard into 1st approaching lights slowly...Anyone know of a cheaper route to go just to allow the insert to be taken out? Any help would be appreciated.

Not gonna get any cheaper than $150 for a new tune, if you go with someone else you're looking at at least $3-400.

Unless you find a random guy in your area with HPTuners and you pay the $100 for credits and let him tune your car.

Thanks. I doubt I am going to find anyone local, I live out in West Texas and no one out here does anything!

Youd be lucky to gain 5hp from a CAI with or without the insert... if that's why your doing it.

A tune is your best bet for any type of performance gain from anything less than a supercharger.

Here's a list of performance mods that have the best bang for the buck.
-exhaust (headers/cat delete/catback)
-engine (tune/e85 if you can)
-suspension (anything that helps control the IRS to stop the wheel hop)
-tires (any things better than the pirelli's)

Dont waste time on the insert, I have the roush cai with the insert removed and am running e85. I can tell you the only thing the CAI is doing is keeping IATs low when cruising and sounds cool  lmfao... and impresses young children when you open the hood but adults in the know will make fun of you for spending $400 on plastic essentially.

P.s. if you go with a tune go with a reputable tuner not the cheapest one, you will regret it.

Going with a big tuner instead of the canned tunes would be the best bet honestly. They can change these cars completely even with no mods. If you would do just one mod on the car, my opinion would be a tune from Lund Racing or Palm Beach dyno. They are great guys. Let me know if I can do anything for you. We have Black Friday coming up here soon, look forward to some big savings! #teamlethal
