Hello everyone,

Today in the morning I noticed some decent amount oil on the ground, so I decided lift the car and noticed the transmission bell housing is leaking oil. Now, naturally I’m really concerned as I’m thinking it could be the gasket and I believe isn’t an easy and is a costly thing to fix. I have a 2015 GT with manual transmission with 44k miles. Has anyone else had this problem before? Please see pictures attached and any advice would be appreciated.

I would initially say rear main seal, but in those images it appears as if the oil is coming from the topside down, because it looks like there is oil on that one harness. Also if it was rear main, the leak would be closer towards the front of the trans at the junction where the bell housing meets the engine block.

The 5th image, where you see the harnesses, look at the one harness with the connector and the bolt closest to it, there’s oil on it. The oil will follow path of least resistance so if it’s topside, it’s coming down that side of the trans.

Looking topside down with hood open, using a very bright light, do you see any oil seepage around the head or valve covers on that side of the engine?

I thought the same thing. It does look like the oil is coming from the topside through the side of the trans, but there does not seem to be any oil seepage around the head or the valve covers on the side of the engine so I believe we can eliminate the option for leaking through an engine block.

I would spray some degreaser on there and hose it off, then go for a ride and get another look. If it was coming from the engine I would suspect the oil would be closer to the bell housing area. There is a breather fitting on top of the transmission, but it's probably coming from a sensor on the transmission.

I just replaced my clutch, bearing, and master cylinder. I now have a similar leak. Was thinking a bad master cylinder... the new clutch slips at take off.

Is it oil or brake fluid?

This one looks like it could be a rear main seal as it is by the oil pan/back of the engine. If the oil from that is getting on the clutch disk, it will definitely slip.

There should be an oil slinger on the crankshaft behind the seal that keeps oil off of the clutch when there's a leak.

yes, I did figure it out, looks like the seal was broken, went to the dealership and they fixed it under power train warranty. Work order is attached

I was going to change the fluid with RP Syncromax, but think i will bring it in, to see what's up with seepage first. I definitely don't want to have the RP in when having it inspected. Knowing my luck, they will say something like it's my fault, because of the fluid change LoL. RP fluids are not to hard to distinguish between other fluids, that's for sure LOL
