I guess they almost got away with it.. not only does everyone have a camera in their pocket these days, but quite a few Lenders/Ins. Co.'s also do fraud research on social media platforms etc.

There are people who's job it is to goto track day events, and if someone wrecks, to get photo's of it, and the tag .
If you are going to be dumb enough to try to file an insurance claim, no tag, cover vin, pull fuse to nav system long before you get there, and maybe plastic coated on stripes.
Most of these yoyo, the nav system rats them out or the automatic contacting/calling of police/fire that many vehicles have today as it logs the location of the vehicle at time of wreck.
