I am trying to figure out how much play I should have in my driveline. Right now I would consider it excessive, but its my first mustang. With the car on the ground, transmission in first gear, I can move my car forward/backward a total of 2-1/8". This is a gentle rock until the play is taken up, not aggressive at all.
2016 GT MT82 PP 3.73 Torsen, DSS single piece aluminum shaft, Poly Engine mounts, Poly Diff Bushings, and Aluminum Cradle Bushings. So all play is in trans, driveshaft and diff.
I know there some play in the trans and the differential as gears do need some lash. I just don't know how much is excessive.
Anyone else with a similar car that can tell me how far your car moves?
I have seen that 5 degrees of rotation about the pinion on the rear differential is within spec. I don't know how much for the transmission.
I have some play in the DSS driveshaft. I sent them an email 2 weeks ago, but they never responded.....
