Mine was doing a similar thing... Sound worked fine on the radio, but the RS speakers would mute when the navi was trying to talk, but it never said anything. I took it all apart and found I hadn't fully seated one of the factory connectors that plug into the rear of the CD player. They're a PITA to get to. Plugged it in and all is now working perfectly. I also took the opportunity while it was all apart to rip the piezo buzzer off the board with a pair of pliers so it doesn't "BEEP" every time it turns on and off. I posted some photos on page 18 of this thread.Did the update again... nothing lol now I am starting to think it might be the unit
I think I have a USB Dongle that I got with another WinCE head unit I had in my Charger. My TomTop/Kkmoon will be here tomorrow, I will let you know what I come up with for functionality, since I still have support contacts with the old unit, they may send me drivers. The problem is getting the drivers and settings correct in wince there are none
Any idea on the chipset to your dongle? I built a special driver for a range of chipset RT. The other issue with Tomtop is that it doesn't have a persistent registry...I think I have a USB Dongle that I got with another WinCE head unit I had in my Charger. I've gotta dig it out of the closet to get the info off it. As for the registry, are you saying you are able to edit it but it won't save changes?Any idea on the chipset to your dongle? Yea kinda I'm working on it right now actually. I even created an app to flush the registry it saved but after reboot Nada...I've gotta dig it out of the closet to get the info off it. As for the registry, are you saying you are able to edit it but it won't save changes?
What was the verdict on the version? Is it WinCE 6.0?Yea kinda I'm working on it right now actually. I even created an app to flush the registry it saved but after reboot Nada...

Awesome. I just sent all the links from this entire thread to my Dev friend, and he's setting up an Emulator now. He's a scripting Deity and if there's no persistent REG, he can write a script that can be put in startup as needed for drivers, and likely the brightness issue that some people are reporting. His biggest desire is to see if he can load Android on it, but I told him to calm his tits, and let's solve the existing issues before we create new ones.
If he does, I'm in. I'd like a carputer.Awesome. I just sent all the links from this entire thread to my Dev friend, and he's setting up an Emulator now. That's pretty much my idea build a script and run it on boot the issue is his emulator will be very different than Tomtop. Trust me it took me a while with Ranger11x to set it up. Also technically you can run Android just need to flash the bootloader but our tomtop doesn't have much ram either... The data aren't persisting either so to run the script we might need to sacrifice the GPS icon... Also I'm building an app like a second Sync that'll run on boot but Sync3 theme and I might be able to save that GPS icon...Awesome.
