So am I right the 2019 comes with cup 2 tires only? If so the cup 2's in the past were not a good street tire, only track and will crack below 45 degrees. I had a 16 and 17 and never tracked them and they were a daily (most of the time) driver. Since didn't come with cup 2's on nice days in winter would take out of carport and drive around with no worry of tires cracking in carport when it got below 45 degrees (supplement only states not safe to drive in winter due to being summer tires, only the R supplement states cup 2's can crack below 45 degrees) If true would any one buying a 19 have to have a heated garage to keep car in or pay out the expense of replacing factory tires with a different tire as like my 16 and 17 had on them? And not be safe even in summer driving with the cup 2's daily and on trips?

I'm sure there are plenty of R owners who stored their cars through this INSANELY harsh winter and pulled their cars out with zero tire issues.

Yeah, they can get cold and sit in storage, just don't roll them around or decide to change tire pressures when it's too cold!

I put 200 miles on the cup 2's before switching to the "street" wheels/tires I bought for my '19.... No clue how they would fare in rain, but the amount of rocks thrown up were too much for me to street them.... plus I plan to track a lot so saving them for the track! bought a second set of cup 2's already for when these wear out too lol

The Cup 2's on the 2019 GT350 are not the same compound or specs as the Cup 2 on the R, So what Ford's recommendations are re the tire and outside temperature remains to be seen.

is that compound change documented? diff size yes, but they all appear to be 180tw... load rating is higher, but I've not dug in past that though to see why....

Interesting! I have a set of Cup 2's from an "R" that I was going to use on my previous GT. Just compared them to the current Cup 2's on my GT350 (non-R) and they are identical. Other than the size - the numbering and factory specs(?) are all the same. Where would I look to see the different compound or specs? Just curious.

My R sat in a cold garage last winter in which temps were regularly below 30, and a couple times I even drove the car when it was around 40 out. I'm still alive, and my tires don't have cracks. I'm not recommending anything or saying to disregard any instructions, but this isn't something I've ever lost sleep over. Grant it I'll be putting new tires on this spring anyway. Tires are quite the consumable on these cars.

I had issue with JR357. When the car was delivered, it was discovered after the fact that the tires were cracked. I went through my dealership and (with resistance) submitted a claim. Michelin picked up the tab. A brand new set of cup2s.

Below are some shots of the cracked/damaged tires.

I tracked my R last Oct, was 34 degrees in the morning, high of the day was 45. I kept and eye on things and had no issues, except the tires handle like in the wet for the first lap at these temps! After the first lap and they got some heat they did much better, close enough to warmer temp handling.

I have also driven on the streets fairly often in the 30s. No issue except again grip for acceleration is aweful there is little point to drive with these tires on.
