Hey guys, had a tuner tell me it may hurt performance?
What I did was just cut the flat plastic piece that
blocked the airflow from directly going straight into my JLT
Air box. The filter/screen is still in and has to bend (as normal) to the maf meter etc.
Could this abundance of air flow under
SPEED actually hurt performance????

I highly doubt that it would hurt performance. I would find a different tuner.

I did something similar on my 2000 GT and picked up .2 & 2mph at the track, on the dyno it wont do anything.

The more cold air you can direct to the intake the better!

I neatly cut out the honey combs on my grill, fitted a Velossa big mouth which seals around the grill and pushes into the air box opening, thus ramming cold air in there. On the road intake temps never go 5c above ambient and most of the time they are 2-3 above ambient. The car feels more urgent and throttle response is better. :)

I think your tuner was confused about what "screen" you cut out. If it was the plastic out of the grill in the front of your car that's fine and if anything beneficial.

If it was the screen that straightens the air flow inside the filter cone then it may have a negative effect on performance.

Positive air pressure (air being forced in)=good.

The more positive air pressure the better. Unless its so good that a heavy rain can cause your filter to get saturated and then you start sucking water in :p

Where can you buy those Veldossa Big Mouths from, I googles but cant find them. Thanks
