Get the 16 GT now, enjoy it for a couple years, then make a decision again in 2018 if you really want to. By then, you'll either have a modded GT that you love and are still into, or you'll have a GT that you're bored of and ready to get into something else

I would get it, no one is promised tomorrow, let alone next year. Coming from someone that had unexpected heart conditions.
I agree with this.. My wife and I had been thinking about pulling the trigger on one for months... She is only 31. We kept waiting and waiting for the right time. She had a Pulmonary Embolism that almost killed her... was sent to Vanderbilt Heart in Nashville who saved her life. Went and picked a car the first week she was back home. Life is short and you only live once. If its not gonna hurt you financially then get it. You can always trade it in if the refresh is that great and you HAVE to have it. But I would get a discounted 16.. that way if you decide you NEED to have the new one in 2018 the hit on the trade wont hurt so much. Unless you have to have grabber blue :)

PS.. use the price reduction on the 16s to justify a supercharger budget lol

I purchased my 15 GT PP in Nov. 2014 when they came out. 6 SPD, loaded. Faster around Pacific Raceway on the Pirellies than my 2011 GT 500 on slicks. Several mods later, cold air and program, Eibach suspension and Michelin Cup 2' s and the car comes alive. Love beating up on my foreign car loving buddies. Porches and BMW's. Few rice burners at the track unless from north of the border.
By now and enjoy.

I know most will tell you to decide with your gut, but I don't think it hurts to use your head.

I would wait until you at least know what the 18s look like (fingers crossed by January). The wait to find out should only be between 6-10 months, that's really not bad. If you don't like it, great, you can skip it and get a 16 at an even bigger discount. If you do, then you can just wait for the 18 and not have any regrets.

It just doesn't make sense to buy a 16 now, find out you like the 18, and then trade it in (you will get reamed by the dealer) and end up paying thousands more when you could have just waited.

Take it from someone who was impatient, bought an Ecoboost, and is now wishing they were in a GT.

Hello. I'm thinking about getting a GT premium. I currently own a camaro. I've test driven both the GT and the new SS. Even though I liked the SS I kinda liked the GT better. My question is should it be worth to wait for the 2018 since supposedly they might do a refresh? Is 2018 for sure going to be a refresh?
I'd wait for the refresh next year but that's me. With the lack of anything in '17 you can tell they just dialed it in and everything is being saved for the refresh (LEDs, 10 speed, new rear, digital gauges, HP/TQ bump, etc)

What's the point of waiting? A year after you get your '18, they'll start rumors about the all new '20.
There are things called plateaus in technology. This applies to cars also. Whether it's a new platform, new transmission, new look etc...there are things to some worth waiting for. Just like in tech, whether it's a new gen chip that will be around 5 years or a OLED vs a standard screen, some things are worth waiting for for some people. Also for some, people have more money to blow while others have to be scrupulous with their savings/spending.

So...planning and not being reactionary (to nothing, 2:1 consistent monthly sales lead over closest direct competitor) is phoning it in?

I think back to the '13-'14 refresh that everyone was waiting for. Was anything really vastly superior to the '12? The technology was the same for the most part, the engine got an insane 8 hp bump, and the car got a mild facelift (which I did like more). I have a feeling we're in for the same transition for '18. The Corvette forums were blowing up with the new "refresh" for the '17's. I heard everything from mid-engine addition to 10sp autos, etc. Everyone waited for a few new colors to be added and a couple of new packages along with a hefty price bump.

The OP seems like he likes the current model, but is curious as to what the '18 will look like. I had the same thoughts. If he has the itch to get into a new car now, he really won't be disadvantaged in the future. If he gets a '16, the deals that are to be had right now will help off-set the initial depreciation. If the '18 is a must have, perhaps he can wait until the end of the model year to get a deal again, lessening the "bath" he would take. I used quotations because these cars really do hold their values decently well compared to other 30-40k cars. The only reason I jumped from my '14 to a '16 was how little I lost owning the car for 2 years. I mean, it cost me about 3k to upgrade between the difference of wait I paid to wait I sold it for...or about 140 a month. Not sure what car you can lease for that little...

Or he could just wait and decide he likes another make/model and wait for that new generation to come out. As long as the OP is happy, it can't be a losing situation. I know I'm glad I just pulled the trigger and didn't wait.

Best thing to do is wait a few months till the '18 is revealed most likely in Nov at the auto shows or in Feb.

They could have come out with something for the '17s....say maybe a HP bump or move the PP to the Auto or even come out with a new special package like the California Special. At least the '16s had Sync 3, LED hood blinkers and the CS special and black out package.

Also did anyone ever see this? Mustangs greatest failure..

And it's true, Ford gave us a nice shock for the '11 with the 5.0 a year after the body change, so who knows.

However, I find it interesting that I have not seen any Mustang shaped mules cruising around Dearborn this year. They were everywhere before the '15 and GT350 release....

Well we had some earlier in the year when the mule was spotted with the front and rear covered with the lighting thing to the front/rear. We've also seen supposedly a Mach mule running around. But honestly you don't need to really test a fascia refresh out there in the wild except till the very end near release.

The Audi A3/S3 refresh was spotted a few months before it was revealed. My guess is we'll see the same a few months before whatever car show they plan on revealing the refresh.

Noticed that on my test drive - unlike my '67 which had hood mounted blinkers both of which were visible, the right hand blinker on my '16 is indeed blocked by the hood ridge. But I never vomited lavishly because of it!:eyebulge:

It is kinda silly really. You could see them on the older models.

I think the hood ridge is too high anyway...would love to see a more flat hood or aftermarket do a take on it. Think it should be much more sexier.
