"There I was..."

Okay folks, time for a little FUN!!! How about we start a thread entitled " There I Was..." where in our best Bill Engvall type style (or Ron White if you so please) describe our BEST "there I was..." Mustang moment to date!

Mine was yesterday and it goes something like this:

"There I was, just pulling up to a red light on Route 30 (the old Lincoln Highway) in Greensburg, PA across from a shopping plaza. Young Kid pulls up next to me in a modified Rice Rocket drift mobile (with uber loud exhaust) and looks me over...gives me the nod, and starts revving his engine in anticipation of dragging me at the light. I nod in agreement, look at the adjacent lights, shift into first, and hunker down in the seat. The light turns green and the Kid rockets ahead of me as I casually start out, all the while watching the unmarked State Police Crown Victoria turn on his lights and siren while screaming out of the adjacent parking lot where he was sitting going after our budding Don Garlits wannabee! Hilarious!" :first:

There I was on my daily morning commute in the NYC area when it happened....

There I was ... coming up to a right turn at a stop light. Rev Matching my downshifts, the sun reflecting off the beautiful Ingot Silver, the sonorous V8 perforating the air...

I come to a stop, light turns green...and I stall. Damn I'm good

There I was, looking at a really tight parallel parking spot that I was concerned I might not be able to fit the car into, when I threw it in reverse and realized that the backup camera makes parallel parking an absolute breeze because I can tell exactly how far I can back up, to the 1/4", without hitting the car behind me.

There I was at the dealership looking at a brand new 2015 Mustang at the local dealership... wondering if I should scrap my plan of waiting another year for the GT350 and speeding off with a brand new ride NOW. It's going to be a long wait. :tsk:

there i was, driving home late one night, at a criminally higher than speed-limit velocity. That is when i see it, about a mile behind me, on this dark country road, flashing lights.

I turn onto the side road leading to my house with the distant hope that he was on his way elsewhere in the world to do other police sorts of things, by which time, he is a quarter mile behind me. Mind you, this is a country side road that has no shoulder to pull over on.

now, moving at the posted speed limit up this side road, watching my rear view mirror for the flashing lights to either pass or come write me a very large ticket, i see the lights in the misty night air growing more intense.

he turns onto my street.

crap.

i get as far over as i can without going into a ditch, with the blinding lights getting bigger and brighter in my mirror.

My dread turns to utter terror when he passes me and continues onto my home street. He wasn't coming for me, but racing to MY STREET. the millions of things that would cause a police officer to move that fast rush through my head and before my heart is restored to pumping capacity blood to my brain enough for me to start driving again, the EMT truck turns onto my street.

Oh SH!^!

Back to failing to remember that there is a speed limit, i am behind that EMT like a rocket. the street is full of flashing lights




2 doors down.

Every emotion that can be had by the human species was experienced by me over the course of 2 minutes.



Oh, yea.. the neighbor is OK and back home. so, all turned out well.

There I was cruising in the right lane going to work this morning for the very first time in my new car, while I enjoyed ever rubber necker that drove by.

There I was, walking towards my car that was parked on the street after enduring 48 hours of sheer misery better known as the NY State bar exam, when I realized that someone had side-swiped my car at some point during those two days. Oh, the rage that followed....:frusty::frusty::rant::rant:

There I was...driving down the Hardy Toll Road in Houston...past the rail yard with the beautiful mustangs in every color, front an center. Even a 50 LE in wraps...then I remember I'm still driving a VW Tiguan and my daily drive makes me cry cause like DruidBlack, I am attempting to wait for the GT350...

There I was, about to pull the trigger on my GT Premium for 38.7k out the door...when I noticed he listed my tranny under manual instead of Automatic....got the car for 39.8k out the door.

There I was .... reading this forum trying to think something witty to say. Nah I just love my car.

There I was....backing out of a parking stall, old-timers sipping coffee and donuts on the sidewalk checking out my Magnetic Ecoboost, and to my left I see the first S550 on the road besides my own. As I launch towards the black GT to exchange waves of the Brotherhood I stall my car. The guy spitting out his coffee and donut and laughing at me was a nice touch.
