I hope Brits are getting them because they like them better rather than to make them look like a US model because, as noted before, a fully optioned US GT comes with the same lower grill as UK GTs have.
Mine has that grill as it has the ACC and people who have changed them, have stopped the radar working.

The ACC lower grill is just plain nasty when compared to the fanged version regardless of it's fitted to fully optioned cars or not.

It's just one more thing on a long list that non-US owners have been given the shaft on. :frusty:

Having trawled around the lots (or forecourts as we English would say) of just about every Ford dealer I drove past in central Florida over the past 3 weeks, I could only see the lower Kia style grille we get (as standard on the GT), on the V6's. Weird practice in the same way that we get that bloody awful 'faux' gas cap, which in the US only seems to appear on the CS's. Change for the sake of it, it would appear. Bought myself a proper GT lower grille while I was over there... and a new tailgate panel... so don't care now!

Faux gas cap and white lights were to be 'Iconic to the mustang in europe' Hopefully ford have now realised that, most would prefer red tails

Love the clear lights and the GT badge, wouldn't change either.

I like the lights - the badge, not so much. Neither are bad regardless (or else, why buy the thing) so I'll keep 'em white.

I can live with the lights though would prefer they worked in the american style with all 3 bars lighting up on brake but that fake fuel cap had to go straight off.

If anyone wants a spare standard uk rear deck lid give me a shout :)

Funny that we pay top dollar for our Mustangs then have to pay even more to get them to look like the US ones.

Still would like to know why they fitted the shitty lower grill for us Brits.
croyde , the rest of the world got the crappy base model grille because of the deployable bonnet.
The bonnet requires some sensors that are mounted in the back of the front facia...four of them from memory. When the pedestrian hits the front facia the sensors activate the bonnet upwards at the rear.
How does that relate to the grill?
Well the crappy grille just happens to have some mouldings in it to hang the clips, for the sensor wiring loom that runs behind the facia, on....being as it is also used for the USA acc models that have a wiring loom running behind the front facia.
The usual USA gt lower grille doesnt have anywhere to mount the loom over as they dont have wiring behind them normally in the states unless they order acc and then they get the rubbish grille as well.
I have changed mine out to the proper fanged lower grille....just mounted the loom into the impact absorber that resides also behind the facia...dead easy...can also just be taped behind the facia.
Thats why we dont get the decent grille....because it doesn't have five 1/4 inch holes moulded into it.

So in short, because a deployable bonnet is apparently 'Legal' in the UK, that changing the lower grille actually makes the car illegal (Unless modding the new grille to have the mounting points?)

On the point of lights, think a lot are 'Happy with them' but, have it in the back of their mind they may want to change them, which to me doesn't sound like that's been a successful implementation, same goes for the faux gas cap. I'll admit Euro lights look amazing on certain colours, but red, unless you have a CP - NEEDS those red tails, really transforms the rear!

I cant see the changing of the grille being illegal. The mounting points are only for a loom that passes from one side of the facia to the other....the sensors are mounted in the facia itself, they are not touched. The loom mounting is irrelevant to the operation of the deployable bonnet.

I like my faux GT 'gas' cap, to me, more and more, it's just a badge

Thanks Bobsp12 for the explanation of the lower grill and the gubbings behind it
