I wanted a lift, my ceiling is almost tall enough in the finished part, which doesn't help. So I'm stuck crawling around still. I have room to add a shop at some point but that's going to be a while. I thought about buying the portable scissor lift setup at some point but it's $1300, so I'll probably just keep using a jack with my jacking rails and use the money for something else.

This is the BendPak I'm referring to

My current house was finished in 2013 and we got a lot that was perfect for a basement. Have the 3 car but also a nice finished bonus room, bed room, full bath and a safe room for those bad storms that is fully covered in 10" of poured concrete and a steel door with 3 locks on it ;)

I have a buddy that put a Bendpack 4 post lift in his garage. His ceiling went up to 12' so he had to get door extensions and a different motor setup but it works really nice. Wish it was a 2 post though.

I would be happy with a barn. Something that could be converted to a nice shop overtime. But like I said, a 2 car garage is really enough for most things. I have done a lot in a small garage. You just gotta get creative.

Yeah I have zero desire to use anything that doesn't lift from the jack points on the unibody. The majority of my use would be doing suspension, cleaning, maintenance that would require wheel removal.

Has anyone used one of those "rent-a-garage" type places where you can rent time in one of their bays with a lift. How does that work?

Ideally I would love to find something like I have here. My 45x65 shop has 25ft ceilings, and could accommodate at least 5-6 cars and they all could be worked on at once. Add in my 30x30 and you could work on two more.

A 2 post and 4 post would be great. That way the 4 post could be used if you needed to build stuff (i.e. Ladder bars or 4 link) at ride height. Granted these cars are IRS but why limit yourself? Toss a mill, lathe, and CNC plasma cutter in the corner, and you could really do anything you want. I already have a hot glue gun, would just need 220 power to run it. With machine tools and a welder nothing is impossible. Ooh and some stuff to notch and bend tube would also be required. Can we say tube chassis, and roll cages?

Not since I left the army. It was nice though, I used to do many many things there. Rebuilt my first trans in a shop just like this. Surprisingly the rebuild was a success, but auto transmissions are a pain in the tail to work on. I really miss that old Malibu. The thing loved nitrous. I loved it more and fed it a 250 shot and melted down the motor. (Stock 70's GM fuel systems can't support it who would of thunk it)

Go to the dealership on the last day of the month, ask them for a $750 off coupon. I bet they come up with one.
