On the technician's PDI checklist it states a test drive should be performed to ensure cruise control works,check for vibrations,noises,brakes,etc...otherwise it would be unsafe to sell a vehicle that hasn't been properly inspected. So PDI's are for customer safety and assures everything on the vehicle is properly functional for the customer.

So the PDI is mandatory? Have you ever had a new car not get a PDI? How many miles do you put on for a typical PDI? So many questions! Thanks, and welcome!

Well at our dealership a PDI is done on every car we sell again for safety reasons. If we have a customer that has special requests like leave the plate bracket off or no dealer stickers etc... we will try to accommodate their requests. Personally I drive all customer cars with respect... unfortunately there are some people that don't...

I was hoping to talk with my dealer this weekend, but didn't get a chance. I'm curious what the PDI will be like and which parts he's flexible on. I'm hoping to at least ride along on the PDI drive. Then take it to get fueled up.

I definitely don't want them detailing it because I have all the equipment ready to go and am looking forward to doing it myself. I already told him about the license plate bracket (going with Sto-n-Sho).

I'll participate in what I can, but I'm not going to throw a fit to witness it all. He's assured me his crew is very professional.

As far as an obvious tip... since some of us up north our beloved cars will be delivered when the weather turns ugly. I for one will be sealing the paint before I leave the dealership and hopefully get her home when the roads are dry and in the garage!
