Picked up my 2016 Mustang GT Premium PP back in October 2015 and its been a fun car. One small issue that I have been noticing getting more frequent and frequent is my tachometer is dead on cold starts. On a cold start I start the car and the car starts right up no problem but the tach needle is at 0 dead. Now if I drive it the tach starts to move a little bit after a minute but still returns back to 0 if I come to a complete stop. I have driven to work once now with it acting up the whole way. To fix the issue I have found driving it for a couple minutes and then shutting the car off waiting 10 seconds and then turning the car on again and it is fine.

Not too sure if this is a bad sensor or battery problem.

If anyone has had a similar issue or knows what this could possibly be, please let me know. Thanks guys!

Go to engineering mode and see if you can let the needle sweep/reset.

Hold ok button and then press the start/stop button. You don't need to start the engine.
Hold until ET shows up and then up and down button to scroll through the modes. There is one that would sweep the needles.

I am having a tach readout issue too hope someone can help on a tuned Whipple 2015 Mustang GT. Changed rear O2 sensors. Battery was drained dead after sitting over the weekend. Replaced battery and reset BSM. All seemed normal but now tach is reading at a faster slope than normal. Looks about right at idle but as speed is increased it seems to read a higher rpm rate than normal for the selected gear? Is there a reset or something of more concern with electrical or the ecm/pcm? Looking for guidance.

If the battery drains again in a few days will be trying to see what is pulling amps while car is Parked to drain the battery? Could new rear O2 sensors be pulling voltage for heaters for some reason? Thanks
