Well, my Sync system just did what most of you have described. I got in and started the car this morning and the 8" screen was blank. I thought perhaps I had turned it off for some reason so I pressed the power button... nothing. So I started to my drive to the office. within two minutes, the SYNC logo appeared and at the bottom of the screen it said "Performing SYNC Scheduled Maintenance". Scheduled?? not by me... within another minute the music started to play and the display returned to normal. Nowhere in my owners manual is this covered and my dealer knew nothing about it.
So this must be the "defrag" mode I've read about here in the forums. I'm not sure what it's defragging since to my knowledge I can't store my music in the system.
I wonder how often this will happen, since it says it scheduled. I can only imagine being on a long drive and the system decides it's time to run maintenance!
So sad that we can't get Sync 3! Even GM gave it's early adopters an upgrade path when they upgraded On-Star. :frusty:
