I got in my car this morning and noticed that the screen in the dash was lit up with a low tire warning. It said my left front tire was at 25 lbs compared to all the others, which were at 27 lbs. I figured a couple lbs wouldn't make much of a difference. So, I headed to work with the intention of stopping at a gas station and putting some air in. Here's where things got weird. I pulled up to the compressor and with the help of a tire guage confirmed that the tire was indeed down a couple psi. So, I hit the button and proceed to air up the tire. After holding the nozzle on the valve for a few seconds, there is no change. So, I push the nozzle back on and hold it on there for twice as long. When I test again it's at 18 lbs. WTH??? I think to myself that maybe the compressor was broken and head to work, which is like 30 feet from the gas station. At lunch I took it to another nearby gas station. I now that compressor was woking because I watched a guy in a Charger air up a totally flat tire. So, I give it another whirl. After holding the nozzle on for a couple seconds again I tested it... 17 lbs. Uggh. Somehow the tire is letting air out, but none in. The seems to holding air because it was at the same level as when I parked it this morning. So, I don't think it's leaking. It's almost like the valve is just not letting the air in. Could that be the case? Could there be something wrong with the valve itself? I know that I'm no mechanical genius, but I am fairly confident in my ability to air up a tire. Although, I guess it's possible that there is some sort of user error involved. Please help.
