Strange Sound In Trunk!

When I open the trunk on my GT-LE, I hear a White Noise Low Frequency Hum.

It's the Sub-Woofer...Is this happening with the car turned off on yours?

You may have to put your ear close to the speaker.

I've seen it covered. The guess is that when you remote unlock the car it powers on the amp so that when you turn the radio on it's ready to go.

mine does it too even when the fob isn't with me

my guess is the power is on because lights come on and pony is displayed on the ground but I too hear the hum from the sub.

I recorded the speaker for 6 minutes with the trunk closed, it changed frequency at 3 minutes but still is on-->:shrug:

according to that overseas popular car show (top gear) if it were a Camaro it would be a body back there, lol!

Give it an 30 minutes or so after you shut the car down and get the fob out of range. I know with my 135i, there was all kinds of 'secret electronic stuff' going on after shutting the engine off. Took about 15 minutes to go to sleep.

I thought the sound was coming from the taillights...If you listen to certain types of lights around the house, they also emit a faint sound.

The peripheral electronics on the Mustang take a WHILE to shut off. Like, if you leave a phone charger in the cigarette lighter, it'll stay powered for at least ten minutes, maybe a half hour, after you get out of the car. I'd imagine it's the same for the subwoofer.

I noticed that yesterday in my LE as well. Checked the other speakers out of curiosity and they were doing it to. Is it part of the noise canceling system? car had been off for hours and key was in the house.

Sent a message to Rachel at ford service. Ill let y'all know what she says

The noise cancelling system is only on the Ecoboost.

I called Ford service today, they were clueless. Told me to take it to the dealer.

Asked to put me in touch with someone who could answer, why a low freq. hum is active even with my fob way out of range...Told her others are reporting this as well...Again she passed the buck...

Not happy with Ford service, more like Lip service.

My concern if it's active (amplifiers) with the alarm system will it drain my battery.

Thinking it's alarm related, maybe it activates the amplifier when trunk, doors are opened incase it needs to sound alarm-->:shrug:

I didn't open doors, just my trunk.

Experimented with fob in & out of range.

Just don't wanna return from a trip and find the battery dead at the airport.

When the trunk is opened, my sub buzzs also. Left it open for about 10 minutes (trunk light turned off) and the buzzing went away. At least I do not need to worry about it draining the battery.

If it is the sub humming after shut down...you should be able to hear it through the rear sheet metal. Having the trunk open, defeats the inquiry about circuitry shutoff. (Sort of holding your refrigerator door open to see if the light goes off when the door is closed)
