Does anybody know if we can straight pipe our cars here in texas? would it pass inspection if we remove the mufflers? The only reason why i want to do it, is because i want a better sound not looking to improve performance, since I'm a broke college student lol

1. Texas state inspectors inspect the exhaust system for holes, leaking seams, or patches on the muffler, resonators, exhaust pipe, tailpipe, or catalytic converter.
2. Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with muffler in good working order and in constant operation.
3. The tailpipe should discharge the exhaust at the rear or sides of the "passenger compartment", and not be in a position where exhaust gases could penetrate inside the passenger compartment. Some pickups are equipped with a camper or hard shell cover, this truck modification will be considered as a passenger compartment. The entire structure of a motor home-type vehicle is considered a passenger compartment.
4. Dual exhaust systems may be modified to single exhaust systems and single exhaust systems to dual exhaust systems, provided the modification does not violate requirements concerning exhaust emission systems.
5. State inspectors do not check how loud your exhaust system is, only that it is present, in good condition, and functioning. However, some cities and counties in Texas have ordinances against "loud" exhaust and you could be pulled over, maybe even ticketed. See "Noise and volume" below for more on loud exhaust.

Take it to a muffler shop, have them cut off the axle backs, weld in just pipe, and put some tips on it. Most inspection places won't give you any hassle over it and just keep the old manifolds just in case they do. Also if you did a straight pipe, as long as the cats remain you're good. If you remove the cats the just turn off the rear o2 sensors with a tuner. It'll still pass inspection because there's no codes but some shops will know what's up and just won't pass inspection for you. Some troopers might notice which they'll give you a ticket, sometimes. But like I said just delete the axle backs, it'll sound better and costs the least amount having them done. Just don't pay over around $200 total. And again make sure to save your exhaust.

I'm not trying to mess with anything else just want to str8 pipe by removing just the axle back, but if I do so there would be no mufflers right? and also is it necessary to change the tips or can I keep the OEM ones? does it affect the sound? sorry, I've never change an exhaust before!

Yes no mufflers, you'll still have the resonator tho but I like the way it sounds, deep, louder, and no rasp. I went with new tips, cause if you ever need to put your stock ones back on, they won't be mangled.

Anybody know about the average cost to get an h pipe and Roush mufflers installed? Everywhere I'm going to is talking $200+ and over 2 hours. Is that normal?

I called a local Midas muffler shop, they wanted $600.00 for the install. I tried to explain that with a lift and about 45 min, you should be able to do it. What's your hourly rate? They said, sorry, any exhaust on 2015 mustang is 600.00 labor. I said well your an idiot and hung up on them. Found a single owner type exhaust muffler shop, they did it for me for 120.00, while I ate lunch.
