Hello all,

I searched for an answer but couldn't find one. I've been contemplating new wheels on my 16 GT so I can have a wider rear tire. The cost of new wheels vs. the wife factor may cause issues, though. I do love the look of my premium 19" stock wheels and was wondering if there is a wider version than the 8.5". This would allow me to only buy two and keep the same look. I'd like to go with a 10" or 10.5". Does anyone know if these are available? Here is a photo of my wheel.

Its possible to have wheels widened. They cut the barrel and add material, so you could have them modified to be 10” wide.

IDK about cost. I don’t think its too bad?

Pretty sure that the wheel you have in the picture only comes in 8.5" width. Another option to save some money is you could buy someone's PP1 takeoffs that come with the wider rear and those show up regularly for a price that's very close to what you'd pay for the tires only.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that could be done.

I'll check that out. I didn't realize the pp1 wheels were the same, just wider.

Sorry, didn't realize you wanted exact same type of wheel. The PP1 wheels are definitely not the same. They are also black, although some of the earlier years were silver, maybe up to 2017.

Widening the wheel can be done. But read the article I posted below. The reason I said this is I had an SRT-4 that I loved. I sent a wheel out to be repaired. And after I got the wheel back. I was involved in an accident because the wheel came apart. Trying to prove it was the repair companies fault was almost impossible. In my opinion just find an after market wheel option that you like and go that route. Wives rarely stay mad for ever. Its usually not long before they spend money on something dumb themselves. American muscle has charcoal GT350 style wheels for $200 apiece that are vary similar to the wheels you have in 19x10 & 19x8.5.

Here are the folks that specialize in width adjustments. Shoot them an e-mail and see if you like what you hear.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I may just hold off until Spring for some new wheels. Well, good wheels. A set of Winters will be first.

I took my performance pack wheels to Weldcraft as @Bikeman315 linked and they widened my rears an inch. They're now 10.5 inches wide, wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 305/35/18. Also running hub centric 25mm spacers from cj pony parts in the front and rear. Sitting on BMR drag springs.

How does the cost compare to aftermarket replicas (some are <$150 ea.)?

Also, it often pays to have a separate set of winter wheels and/or track wheels.

Then you have to think, how confident are you in a cast wheel that is cut apart and then welded back together. Plus I assuming widened wheels have very limited options for the resulting offset. And the stock wheels are already rather heavy, widening surely just makes this worse.

Was $275 per wheel. I’d much rather have a shop like Weldcraft do the work than trust a $150 wheel to hold up. IMO I don’t care to have a winter set as I don’t drive the car in winter, as for track yeah that’d be a good idea if you track it several times a year. I plan to get a pair of VMS wheels for the rear wrapped in a radial for when I go to the track.
