Heh all.

I recently got a used '16 GT with very low miles. Today, my friend's kids wanted to see the engine bay so I opened the hood for the first time. When pointing things out to them, I noticed a tacky surface on the fender wells and a few other areas (but not really on the engine itself).

I got a rag and proceeded to try and wipe it off. Got some of it, but there's still some there.

Could the previous owner have had it undercoated and it is over spray? Does anyone else have this?

thanks

Yes, it's the under spray provided by Ford from their "Premeire" service that the previous owner paid for. It's black tacky tar that never fully hardens and gets all over you when working on your car! It sucks! Ask me how I know...

Correct.

It came off using Windex, a few rags, and a moderate amount of elbow grease. Engine compartment is now 99% free of the "tacky" stuff.

I used it where the over spray was, on the metal.
