I ordered this part back around black friday and just now got around to installing it. Here's what I experienced:
Getting the car up on a lift, easy enough. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 nuts from the transmission cross member support. The insert comes with a tube of silicone grease which, if you don't know, is pretty tacky and hard to get off your hands lol.
So first I rubbed about half of the grease onto the bushing and tried to insert it from the rear (pun intended) and she just wouldn't let it in (also pun intended). So I tried from the front, still couldn't get it in more than halfway. So "big brain on brad" decided to use the rest of the grease and lube the inside of the OEM bushing and wouldn't you know it, the insert slipped right in. It still took a little grip strength and some coaxing but eventually it slid in all the way.
Ok, sex jokes are over.
Impressions:
There is definitely an increase in NVH. It seems like the engine/trans noise is more prominent now and masks some of my sweet Corsa exhaust sound. It's not enough to be annoying (to me) but it's definitely there. I know some folks have drilled a hole in the bottom of the insert and supposedly that removes some of the NVH but honestly it's not that big of a deal to me. If I decide I want to modify it I'll wait until I install the Barton shifter.
I didn't notice any measurable increase in shifting precision. But it's been raining it's butt off here in NW Florida so I didn't do any high RPM shifts on my way home.
Overall this is a very easy install once I decide to put the grease all over everything that contacts the insert. Time spent was about 30 minutes.
Good product, fits very snug and seems like it was well worth the money. Plus it's cheaper than the Whiteline version.
