I have a 2020 Roush Stage 3 with the Roush active exhaust system. Currently, it's quiet yet tinny when closed, and loud AF when fully open. I am worried about the common problem with supercharged cars blowing cats and am contemplating catless headers. I see people are still having issues with green cats and other aftermarket cats, I figured catless would just be the way to go.

So, this is going to turn into another "my car is too loud" post. I don't want NASCAR loud. Can the factory cats be gutted? Does that make the car that much more loud? If so, and there's no drawbacks to it, then that's probably the way to go since I don't care about the power gains, just the safety of the cats/engine. If I were to go catless lth, is there a bolt on solution for the Roush exhaust that will quiet it down, like the magnaflow muffler midpipe, or will there have to be cutting/welding of my exhaust system? I'd like to be able to return it to stock if necessary. Would other active mufflers work with the Roush active exhaust knob on my center console? Would really like to hear from someone who has a Stage 3 or the catback active Roush exhaust system, if any are out there.

Thanks to all

So I went quiet on my exhaust after an extremely aggressive obnoxious system that blew my pictures off the walls during cold starts in the garage.

Yes you can gut cats but at that point it's probably more time saving to just get the pipes off the header that have no cats. Can put the stock cats back on if you need to sell it.

It's going to be a lot louder without the cats. For example, I installed the stock resonator and stock catback system back on my car. I have Stainless Works long tubes, no cats with a Procharger. I can finally hear my blower whine now. If you went no cats, stock resonator and PP1 valved stock catback it would all bolt up. Probably find it for cheap too since most people upgrade. I got the entire stock system in one piece for $200. Wasn't fun putting it my SUV all complete (I'll post a pic).

My car still made 800hp at the wheels with those stock exhaust. The additional power comes from the headers and no cats. After that it's just noise.

The system below does not have valves, I have a Premium not PP.

Good to know the stock system can handle the power. I would like to keep the active system. The other question I have is can the stock, or another active exhaust system, be put in place and have the Roush knob work it? I don't have active exhaust options in my on-screen menu, though I suppose that could be put back with forscan or something. I need to hunt down some videos of catless LTH and stock exhausts now.

About to pull the trigger on Kooks catless LTH to easy my mind about cat failure with the supercharger. Would the Magnaflow midpipe muffler have the same problem as the cats, with the baffling coming apart, or will it being further back mean the gases will be cool enough not to be a problem? Or, is it not the heat, but the pressure that is causing cat failure?

Thanks

Ok, finally installed the Kooks offroad headers. The bad is it's every bit of loud as I thought it would be with the Roush active exhaust open. The really bad is that it sounds awful with the exhaust closed. There's a rasp at 2-3k, right before it shifts, that's cringy. I'm shopping mid mufflers now. Flowmaster, Magnaflow, etc... I'd love to keep the Roush active exhaust due to the car being a stage 3 Roush car with the dial next to the shifter, but I'm not adverse to the thought of going stock on the exhaust. This sounds pretty good to me, but don't know if it'll sound close to this or not with the Roush exhaust. Probably will try this first:
