All top fuel, funny car and pro stock cars use wheel specificst one time or another.

I've seen them glued on nascar brake hats too

I've seen a lot of stuff break too. Mostly installer error, improper torque, inadequate thread engagement
Top fuel and nascar are not stock production cars. These cars are made with specific front end geometry. Not to mention extra load on wheel bearings.

There are people who argue anything other than the stock wheel and tire is going to have an effect on what the chassis engineers designed. Think about it... Putting bigger wheels with a different offset has the same potential to add stress.

I added 10mm front, and 15mm rear hub centric spacers on my BMW (with longer wheel bolts) when I swapped the heavy runflat tires for conventional Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires <500 miles after picking the car up. Since then I've run an HDPE or two with zero issue. At most, I'll put new wheel bolts on for next season's track days.

I've ran hubcentric spacers,15 mm and 20 mm on my dd 350Z for over 3 years with no problems. Looking for some now for the le.

It all breaks down to sheer forces. Period.

Minimum thread engagement of 6.

If that can't be reached. Use extended studs.

They are not made with specific front end geometry. They are a TON of compromises. Top fuel and nascar ARE made with violently specific front end geometry to
1: go 300+ mph
2: go 200 mph for 2 hours

You want to get into loads on tapered wheel bearings?????? I'll let you start. Go ahead. Dazzle me.

It depends.

On the quality of the spacer, if the spacer is hub-centric on both sides then it is a good spacer and doesn't add any shear forces to the studs.

It depends on what wheels you are using. Wider wheels with too much offset can be put back where they belong with spacers and don't add any stress to the bearings or wheel studs.

A good spacer with stock wheels can put slightly more stress on the bearings and change suspension geometry but it is a matter of degree a 1/4" won't have any significant issues.

My PP car has 14mm studs these are much larger than the 1/2" that were on the S197 and much stronger they aren't much longer so they will only work with small spacers and the spacers should still be hub-centric inside and out.

Mark this as a first........... I agree with this post

I would like to go with 20mm spacers all around to flush out my PP rims, especially after I lower the car in the near future. Not a lot of availability on hubcentric 14mm stud spacers though.

H&R and Eibach make some quality spacers also, both are highly respected suspension brands so i don't think they would offer them if they were that dangerous.

I'll probably put some on my 19" PP wheels until i can afford to swap them out with something lighter and with a finish i like better.

I am not a fan of spacers. However if you do choose to go with spacers I would recommend you going with hub centric spacers to avoid as much vibration as you can.
