I ordered the puddle lights too so I am planning to use a dremel to cutout the opening like the factory housing.
Some of the assembly looks similar to last years model so I can use this video to help with taking the mirror apart.

Do you know if there is anywhere to tap into the switched power when the door is open around the mirror?

I did a bit of digging around today in preparation for my install next week.(hopefully) It looks as though there will be some custom wiring to do. There is no switched power in the door to tap off of so at least one wire will need to be routed through the door harness into the cabin of the car. From there I plan to tap into the illuminated door sill wiring harness I have.

Did you wire in a switch for the cup holders?

I did not. It could easily be done though. Mine are wired to illuminate when the interior lights illuminate. It is not distracting at all while driving.
