3/4 of the miles on my car (8k) are to and from Vegas...in 2.5 months I went 5 times and won 4 times....

MGM casino built my speed 3 and mirage built my mustang...need more wins to boost it tho...
That's a nice chunk change
I would defiantly be down for a Vegas cruise...
In fact, going to Vegas this weekend :D
Hopefully I don't lose all my Mod money...

Just wanted to take the time to say, I had a blast this Sunday. It was really nice meeting you guys and spending time getting to drive through the twistiness. Great group of Gents and Ladies. Cant wait for the next run. For the Guy in the Blk with orange stripes, I am sorry we got lost while trying to find a place to eat. I totally lost you guys when I tried to turn around an find a parking spot. Hope guys found a place to eat eventually. I did not get any thing to till I got home.
We felt terrible couldn't find you after driving around several times, forgot to ask your number first that was my bad.

Been on many many forums. Am glad so many want to commit to a Vegas meet...There are a few other ideas to make a huge meet happen...

I think combining s meet with SD would get a HUGE turnout...meeting in Oceanside or something....or properly planning a Vegas venue.

And from this example, don't get behind a Prius going 10-15 under the speed limit!
A secret: I was able to use the stang's voice nav when leading. It's just so easy to get distracted at an intersection and just turn onto any road where a Mulholland sign is not in plain view. After that cop finally gave me my ticket early on (why do they take so damn long?!), what was left of our group followed me to PCH to the meeting spot. During that stretch was when I first tried the nav, after SC_Ruby had told me via bluetooth they passed the spot the first time. The nav couldn't understand the name of the point of interest (POI) of 'Malibu Colony Plaza'. Then I remembered I had posted here that the plaza had a CVS, so I said that as the "nearby" POI, and it took us right to you guys at that shopping center.

Another time I used it was when we were going back up Mulholland to the 101. The voice nav recognized the POI 'Rock Store' (with the line of parked motorcycles) so that was easy. As we approached it, I went ahead and asked voice nav for directions to 'Las Virgenes'. I apparently butchered the pronunciation, but voice nav gives you the option to spell it out. So while we were zipping around those curves, I was saying "L. A. S. V. I. R. G. E." :p until nav said the name of the road (I assume with correct pronunciation) and took us right to it! Then, "Skirball Cultural Center" (even though we went our separate ways by that point). :D

I actually use the voice nav pretty often (for directions, though, not climate). Typing into it is a cumbersome pita and you have to do it when you are parked; that is a last resort for me - I use my iphone nav before going through that - but the address is not stored in your car when you go the iphone route (I use the 'Previous Destination' function more than I ever thought I would). Spelling the POI works well and of course you can drive while talking. :ford:

The problem with that is it will only create a route for where it thinks you want to go. That's all fine and dandy when you just need to get from A to B, but if you're planning to go "off the beaten path" so-to-speak it's not helpful at all. Next time I'm going to make sure I have a better understanding of the route, and bring printed out directions.

Also, I brought my camera and took around 80 pictures of all the cars. Only after I got home did I realize there was somehow a huge smudge on my nice (read: expensive) lens and all the pictures are unusable. :headbonk:

I did make it out with one half-way respectable cell phone pic, though!

Fifty15 Maybe that was what had helped me...from drawing out the route and playing on google maps for hours I learned a little about how it's laid out, so I knew "when" to ask for the particular direction in the real world. When drawing the map, google plays that little game, too; it "assumes" one turn and just draws a chunk for you but maybe you wanted to draw a slightly different turn, so you have to undo a couple moves to manipulate how you want it. Still, the intersections always threw me off a little and I had to think before proceeding (which apparently does not apply when rolling through stop signs :headbonk:). I am sure some behind me were thinking, 'WTH, traffic is clear, move, dummy!'

So it sounds like you got to experience Decker Canyon? There are some great Google images of it :)

Wow, what a shame about the camera lens. :( Ain't that a kick in the pants. It isn't scratched, I hope?
