Eeeek bad move. Guessing he hauled ass, sent some water over the hood and into the engine bay and swamped it.

Between potentially ingesting water in the engine and bathing all the electronics, I think that’ll end up on Copart pretty soon.

Things used to be simpler.

I once sank my '74 Chevy SWB 4x4. Wasn't too deep where I stated a river crossing but the current was too much and pushed me over a hole in the river bottom. When it was obvious we wouldn't make it out, I shut it off and told my wife to wait for the water to fill the cab and then open the door and swim to shore. When she didn't respond, I looked over to see her almost to shore having bailed out the window.

Fortunately I was able to find the submerged truck and attached a strap to the roll bar but that wanted to turn the truck on its side. So, I swam below the still slowly moving downstream truck and put a strap on something underneath.

A friend pulled the truck out. I drained the engine, trans, t-case and diff until water turned to dino and buttoned them up again. Then I took out the air cleaner and spark plugs and turned the engine over until water stopped shooting out of the plug holes. Put the plugs back in, drove home slowly, changed the fluids, took out the seats to dry in the AZ sun and repacked the hubs. Never had any problem with the truck the 3 years I had it after that.
