I was thinking about the smart key access. If you had your car running and the smart key in your pocket, and someone tried to steal the car, would the car turn off after getting to a certain distance? I know you have to be a certain distance for it to unlock the doors, but just wondering if it will turn it off.

Nah, it will run until they shut it off, then they're stuck.

Thankfully it's easy to just lock the door with it running, if the key is in your pocket and not inside the car. I know that wont stop them if they REALLY want it, but again, soon as they turn it off, the car won't restart.

I think that it will run until they come to a stop at X distance from the key than the car will automatically shut off.

Makes no sense for it to run until it the driver shuts it off, easier to hide it somewhere.

OK so I just tested it to make sure. When you get in with it running and no key, it warns you on the display. You take off and it drives as normal, and doesnt go dead. Once you park and stop, it warns you that you need to press push start button again, or you wont be able to start it again after 20 seconds (says so in the manual--its a restart feature).

So, to sum up, yes, someone can take off with your car with no key, and even continue to use it, so long as when they park, they dont let 20 seconds pass.

You cannot enter the car without the key though, right? (The car can be running but it wont unlock without sensing the key)?
