Hi everyone,

I ordered my new car with the Security Package. Every once in a while, while locking/unlocking doors, getting out after turning the car off, etc. I'm hearing a noise that sounds like a servo motor (it actually sounds like a power door lock motor when it breaks the cable that actuates the power door  ). I heard it once yesterday when I turned the car off waiting in line for gas at Costco (some moron pulled up in a class A motorhome and pumped almost 200 gallons :frusty: ). Sounds like it's coming from the steering column.

I know part of the security package is extra steering column lockage when the car is turned off...

Two questions 1) is this something to do with locking the steering column? and 2) is it normal?

Thanks for the help!

I've noticed the same noise too like if I turn the car off and someone runs into the store for a few minutes and I stay in the car. It sounds like it's coming from under the steering column

Sounds like you are hearing the steering column lock - it's a loud, sliding noise followed by a click about 1.5-2s long.

Will occur once you power off the vehicle (regardless if you arm it or not).
