So, i have had my car for a week and noticed something that, i just can't answer when people ask "What was that??"

When i get out of my car, lock it and walk away, the car, after some time, will make a series of electrical and mechanical sounds, it sounds like several solenoids engaging, and several relays clicking on or off.

my assumption is security. my questions is, what exactly is being engaged after i have already locked the car?

Is it the window opening/closing? When you open the door, the window drops slightly (about an inch or even less), and goes back up when the door is closed.

nope, that is immediate and has been standard on bare sill windows for quite some time. the window lowers to clear the weather stripping, and then seats into the weather stripping when you close it.

I close the door, then lock the car and if i wait about 5 minutes (have not actually timed it), that is when i will hear the electro-mechanical sounds from the car.

Did you get the security package? Also might just be all the technology in these cars, they are not actually "off" even when you take the key out and walk away. Similar to how BMW's are, where you hear fluids draining and electronics updating when the car is off.

Mine does it too. I think it's the column lock and center console.

It's the evaportive emissions closing off the vapor from the tank to the engine.

I think it is the center console. So I figured out how to test the lock. Roll down the windows and lock the doors. I took the keys back inside and then tried to reach through the window to open the console and it was locked. then the alarm went off.

that may be one of the processes that takes place, but, there is a lot of noise for it to be just that.

there are about 5 distinct noises i am hearing - we may be on the right track with the steering column, and center console. that makes a lot of sense. I wonder why those would not lock when the car is locked?

Anyone else hear a small hiss from all of the speakers when the door is initially opened?? My car was locked with the keys in my pocket. I opened the trunk and heard a hissing sound from the subwoofer. Then I went to the front and heard it through the other speakers. It's really low and shuts off after a few minutes.

OK...that's a little freaky :eyebulge:

If my car is doing this, I don't want to know about it....:help:

It's the steering column lock that's included with the security package. It locks about 45 seconds after the ignition is turned off and unlocks when entering the car with the key fob on you.

The center console lock is tied in with the door locks. It locks when the doors are locked and vice versa when they are unlocked.
