SCT x4 Tunes on x3

Didn't see any intro section to post in. So guess we'll just jump right into it.

I've got a 2015 v6 Comp Orange with Flowmaster Outlaws on it right now.

Long story short, my friend just gave me his SFC x3 he had laying around. Plugged it in to my 2015 and it read everything fine.

The computer guy in me seems it would be possible to get someone with a x4 to pull the tunes down for the v6 and send them to me and I can upload them to the x3 and put them on the car.

What do you all think? :shrug:

Since you got it for free and since your in Florida you should contact SCT tech support and see what they can do for you it might cost you a couple bucks. I wouldn't program anything into my ECU in till you know what's going to happen.There are already several updates to the SCTx4 so I don't know what's out there for the SCTx3.

Tunes aren't transferable. Also you need an X4 to tune your car. X3 won't work.

As stated above the x3 will not be compatible with your 2015. I can set you up with a new X4 W\ custom tune for the car which will far exceed any pre loaded type tune. If interested please feel free to contact me.

Are your tunes above what SCT plugs in the SCTx4 for the V6 auto?

A custom tune will always yield better results than a generic tune, which they have to guarantee will work with any V6 Mustang. A custom tune is set to the specific parameters of YOUR vehicle. Every car is slightly different (thousandths of an inch variances here and there).

Obviously the can tunes on the x3 wouldn't be compatible, but pulling a can tune from the x4 for the v6 and putting it onto the x3 as a custom tune seems to make sense.

Plugging the x3 in still worked as expected. Checking DTCs, data logging, ability to upload the 93oct tune (which was for a 4.6L, haha), etc.

The x4 is also backwards compatible based on the website to 1996, which tells me the control device is the same, just has more tunes on it.

Yeah that seems more likely. Either way using a tuner not designed for your car to upload a tune that was designed for an entirely different motor all for what? Saving $400? Not worth risking my motor or anything else really. Just my $0.02

I figured the clarification that I wasn't going to upload a tune from the x3 to the Mustang wasn't needed for obvious reasons, lol.

That tuner module is a computer, nothing more, nothing less. So at my own risk, would someone be willing to plug their x4 into their computer and pull the data down for the v6 tunes and send it to me.

My question is do you have a 93 tune for the SCTx4 that over and above that SCT programs for a stock V6?
