Well guys, I never thought I would be doing this on my second day of having my 2015 Mustang V6, but today gave me quite a scare that I want to make sure was okay or if it was something I need to get worked on.

My car has been driving perfectly and acting normal ever since I purchased it on the 19th.... UNTIL today around 6 pm, I started the car from remote start (like I always do) and started driving within 30 seconds from idle out of the shopping plaza. About 2 minutes into the drive, traffic comes to a complete stop because a of a traffic jam ahead. I start to notice my car is vibrating and all of the sudden I look at my gauges and my RPM gauge is going down almost to 0 RPM and jumping back up to around 650 RPM (it's normal idle) continuously and my car literally sounded like it was fixing to die there right in the middle of the highway. It was like someone put a bad substance in my engine or fuel tank or something.

Anyways, I proceeded to the next red light 3 mins ahead and didn't have it happen again for the rest of the ride home, but something definitely wasn't right with the car at the time.

Please help me here, guys. What do you think it was that caused that and what do I need to do?

That happened to me one time only in 2200 miles. Have no idea what it was, but hopefully it won't happen again...to either of us!

Let me take a wild guess and say that you've never driven a car with a carbureted engine before.

It's a timing problem, and since the timing on this car is electronic, that means it's a software problem. It should reset itself after you shut the engine off and leave it off for ten minutes or more before restarting again.

If it ever happens again (happened ALL THE TIME with carbureted engines, hence my comment at the beginning) just shift the transmission into neutral and goose the gas a bit, get the engine up to 2,000 rpm or so and keep there while you're stopped, led it fall back below 1,000 before you slap it back in drive.

well
you have got 2 choices now
1. if you are not too scared, just Keep on driving your car, might be that this Problem will never occur again
2. if you are worried and your Ford dealer is competent, go there and have them read out the "failure Memory" of the Computer of your car (they just have to connect the tester to the obd 2 socket under the Dashboard). The tester should tell them right away what it was and what has to be done

btw: if it happens again and it might die completely: most of the times such things (on modern computerized cars) happen, you can cure this (like a frozen Computer, Laptop or cellphone) just be shutting it down and starting it again as most Systems are reset after a restart
