Has anyone tried removing the fake gas cap from the decklid with a view to replacing it with something else, rather than replacing the whole decklid? How is it attached?

There have been reports on the main forum of it literally dropping off when people close the boot. Think its held on by a couple of plastic bits. This is one build quality issue that I hope happens to me! I'd then just stick on a pony to cover the holes. I bet if you forced it off yourself (if you could bring yourself to do that), it'd damage or scratch the plastic panel though.
