Whipple claims 100k on oil change. I won't wait that long. To clean the throttle body remove it completely and spray out the inside with brakleen and wipe it out. I manually open the butterflies or butterfly if it's a single carefully and wipe it out clean. I'd clean the MAF at the same time. They sell MAF cleaner in a spray can.

Thanks for the reply, Roush claims the same LOL, never would I wait that long I figured unplug the TB and MAF to clean them I've always used brake clean on TBs myself, as far as the twin plate I'm gonna take it off so it doesn't mess with the calibration I've open tb Plates on other cars and they needed a relearn, they were also plugged in and on the car so... thanks and anybody know what gasket is on the roush kit I think it's the same as the 13-14 GT500

I pull my twin blade off of my '05 every couple of years and work the blades by hand, never had a problem. I figure on 25k for the blower oil change. When I built my stroker motor I found a puddle of oil in the blower inlet which is when I added the catch can...during that build.

What gasket are you referring to? Blower to intercooler housing?

I have a 17 Roush blower and 100k is right and no other maintenance is necessary. Definitely get the catch can on you’ll be surprised how much oil it collects. I would recommend ditch the Roush tune and get a custom tune from VMP, Palm Beach Dyno or Lund and you’ll see a night and day difference over the Roush tune.

Already have it tuned it was done the first week i bought it, and I have the vmp iat harness with he and fans 79mm pulley, I know roush says 100k, maybe and I mean maybe that's a decent interval for a stock blower and calibration, I've heard otherwise if running the car hard.. the car is not driven much its mostly used on weekends if wheather is good and track days makes 665whp..bassically what I'm asking is what people are doing as far cleaning the head unit itself, do to oil getting in there and the throttle body is pretty dirty as well.. thanks for the reply all is appreciated.. I purchased catch cans waiting on them..

Actually yes its crazy but I'm sure there's oil in the blower I've heard a couple guys say just pull the TB and the elbow and wipe it out I imagine the correct way is to take it off and spray it with brake clean on a bench I don't think it would do well in a parts washer, just being safe, just wondering what people are doing as far as cleaning these head units out.. I did just get catch cans but before they get here I wanna take it off and clean it.. I've looked and the throttle blades have a haze of oil on them as well..

What size pulley are you running? With 5900 miles on mine and an 80mm pulley there was enough oil puddled in the bottom of the intake plenum and in the head unit around the bypass valve area to be concern enough that we pulled the head unit and intake, split the intake and cleaned it as well as the intercooler. Plenty of buildup. About 6 hours of labor with the proper tools. Running oil seps on both sides now.

TB needs to be unbolted and unplugged to be cleaned. You cannot clean the TB mounted to the head unit elbow. You can't clean the butterfly well enough to help. Clean the MAF as well but make sure you use MAF cleaner (not TB cleaner) and allow the MAF to air dry before putting it back in.

Thank you finally, a reply that makes absolute and total sense, it's a 79mm pulley, I laughed at the roush interval especially running a 5.0L with a PD blower at 7700rpm, the car has had the blower since new and tuned by Matt at ID motorsports who I trust, haven't had any reliability issues, such as detonation.. its got NGK TR7 plugs in it, I change them every few thousand and oil every 1k. Probably too quick on that but better safe then sorry that's why I asked I saw oil on the blades very light but it's there... I've heard it happens I ordered catch cans as well.. guess I will be getting gaskets for the lower plenum, if and elbow and tb.. atleast it will be a easy enough teardown just teadious

You actually thought you could properly clean the throttle body without removing it?

I was referring to the actual head unit I've heard some people take the TB and elbow off wipe it out clean and out it back together but if there's oil in the lower intake that's not gonna do It, and some TBs that are drive by wire you have to be really careful, Toyota for instance you can ruin the TPS sensor pretty easy, that being said my concern now is how much oil is on the lower plenum... you COULD get a good bit of the plates moving them up and down and unplugging the TB but it's four bolts and like I said in worried about oil being further in the head unit

That's what thinking I'm gonna be tearing it down sometime this week I will post pictures also, I wish there was atleast service bulletin about this considering the kit can be installed and bought at the dealer... can't expect that though,..
