Hey Guys

Installed a Roush CAI on my mustang yesterday. Just a heads up. Ford have made changes to the air box design. It's use to have three pipes and a sound tube attached to it. Now it's only 2 pipes and a sound tube.

The Roush CAI has space for three pipe attachments. So I just blocked the unused one off using some latex piping and a cable tie. I'd recommend this only as you don't want to use glue in case a bit breaks off and goes in your engine.

You can see in the photo where the third inlet on the factory air intake use to be. Now it just flat.

I will tidy this up by wrapping some black electrical tape around it. I thought I had lost my mind. Just a heads up. It works fine but not the best look.

Interesting, can you post up more images of engine bay and the vacuum line routing from the intake to manifold, will need to remove engine cover if you do not mind. :)

It's true, put an Air raid cai (came with a blockoff already) into a '66 plate and it only had two pipe, the guy who had it before had a 15 which had the 3. Not a clue where the extra one went.

Will do Gibbo once I get home. I'll get the cover removed and put another photo up as I'd like to know what they have done too.

It's not difficult to plug a hole but the issue is the heat. If I used epoxy or some other form of glue, my worry was that it would get sucked into the engine. Atleaset with latex if anything happens it will just tear but still be one piece and remain outside.

I am just curious to see how the vacuum routing is done on the newer cars, I am guessing they went same at GT350 which only has two also. :)

We remove the spigot and open grommet that is fitted and replaced with a flush fitting blanking grommet.

Worth seeing where your lines go to vs "only the two" then shouldn't be hard to find where the missing line is routed to.

FWIW there was no other cable going into the stock airbox, just 3, old variants had 4, 3 on 1 side (Closest to the cabin), 1 on the side facing the front bumper, now it's 2 and 1 on the intake tube.

Does seem odd ford changed that but it could have been a totally useless pipe

Maybe it's something I will do later on to tidy it up but have run out of bother lol. If at some point I do something that requires I remove this then I'll tidy it up.

I had the same issue with the Airaid MIT I fitted a couple of months back.

I emailed Guy at Nemesis about it and he was, as usual, on the ball, and sent me a blanking grommet for the 'erroneous' outlet  .

This was the info he gave in his email to me...

'For 2017 GT Mustangs manufactured after 9/16, vacuum for the CMCV’s (Charge Motion Control Valves) is no longer picked up from the intake tube. This will require a plug to be used with the unused port/fitting on the air intake tube when installing on all 2017 GT Mustangs built after 9/16 only. It’s typical that we have had to find this out ourselves and the manufacturers have not informed us!'

Same with me fitting a Steeda CAI which Mike did for me, it comes with a grommet in the kit now for 2017 models.
