Oh man, I saw a stanced out FR-S driving near my house a few weeks ago with what must have been a one inch ride height. I couldn't help but to stare at it as it drove by, the guy probably thought I was jealous or something, but in reality I was trying to comprehend the vast amount of stupid that was in front of my face :headbonk: To quote a friend, "I don't understand the youths." I think I am getting prematurely old

...on the other hand, maybe I'll do all this stuff to my Ecoboost! It'll be like having, 10 V8's under the hood, right?

Im pretty sure you were super jelly, with those mods he was probably pushing 500~ HP.

I don't think he's bashing the ecoboost at all. He's just saying that the ecoboost could potentially appeal to a younger crowd with its price point and therefore suffer from immature "ricer" mods as the OP described in his original post.

I'm glad that underglow is illegal here in Ontario ;). Still waiting for those V-tec stickers to pop up though haha.
V-Tec stickers add on a extra 25 HP you will see at least 2-3 on a car

I LOVE THE INTERNET!!!

What? It was started on Shelby Cobras... Then moved on to mark what side of the car the driver was on for when certain American and European cars started racing - basically to assist response/medical crew

Ah- NO!
Before you guys start screaming Rice...why dont zone of you take the time, spend some money, buy a book or two on automobile history, automobile racing history- get your #$%^%$ off the net and into a book...

Look at any of the 60's "classic" muscle cars and you will see tons of black out, stripes, wings, hood and side scoops etc that did NOTHING but look cool and racy. The biggest selling point Ford made in 1964 was modding the Mustang to make it "your own."

Oh- back to hash marks...It was a CORVETTE thing that started it! 1 race, 1 time. Nassau Speedweeks in the Bahamas. Private entry had 3 Grand Sports ALL in the same color of blue...they put pieces of colored tape (white, black, red) on the noses to see which car was coming down pit lane---real shocker for you guys...back then no in car radio, no cell phone, no texting, no instantagram from the driver....

Cobras followed suit as a way to distinguish the cars on the same team (aka they look alike). Even in this modern ear it is still done....look up pics of Corvette Racing in the American LeMans series..from outright fender hash marks, to the color of the mirrors, to the color of the windshield banner they "differ" between 2 came color cars on the Team....

Race tracks (especially back then) went in different directions (clockwise and counterclockwise--you guys know what an analog clock is??)..sometimes pit wall was on one side (driver) and sometimes on the other (passenger)...hash marks on the fenders moved side to side as to face the freakin pit wall so the pit crews could see it (otherwise made it kinda worthless of a concept if the pit guys couldn't see it)

the fender stripe first occured on the Cobras. The idea was from the Grand Sports at said race, but their hash mark was on the front of the car. Other manufacturers put hasmarks on the fenders after the Cobra

Rice is in the eye of the beholder. For some, it's not rice at all, it's an art. For others, adding a headlight tint is considered RICER or Ricarius in Latin. In "urban" definition would be to add tasteless and otherwise useless/pointless modifications as to impersonate a fast or performance vehicle. Good examples are the ridiculous wings, fart can exhausts on an otherwise non performance engine, a blower scoop when no blower is present, etc.
A badged out GT indicating they have a 5.0 everywhere doesn't make it rice, makes it tacky as it is already a fast car. Some folks like the chromed out look, not necessarily rice, they just like to bling. But it all goes back to fundamentals, for some it's considered rice, for others it's not. I can add beautiful 19 inch 3 piece wheels and drop my GT one inch and someone would call it Rice, because I'm acting like I have a Lambo and need to speed in the autobahn with 11 inch rears for that "grip yo".
I say if you got the money, do what you please to your car. It's the free world and to each their own. Let me end this with 'Merica!
