I am experiencing a strange phenomenon on my manual MY17 GT

The reverse lockout is sticking "up" when I come back out of reverse gear

It will push down again (manually) - but its a little worrying

I have removed the gear knob and squirted a little wd40 on the shaft - and it frees it up a little

any ideas?

thanks

Bob

Remove lockout collar & apply an appropriate grease, possibly PTFE grease/E85?

Doesn't removing it involve 'un-gluing'it?

After viewing the CJP youtube video, evidently not.

Remove gator & collar assy as is. Which appears to provide access to the shaft and lower collar.

I think you'd only disassemble the collar if you were replacing the gator or the collar itself.

Hiya Bob

I’ve not had your issue but just switched mine over to the Steeda one when I was replacing my gaiter. IIRC the Steeda one is a single billet piece rather than the split plastic (ie breakable) OEM one - looks good too lol. Supplied by KentMustang.

Ben - how long did it take to swap out for the Steeda one?
is it simple?

(the video above makes it look easy - but we all know that sometimes theses things require a degree in astro- physics to do!:giggle:

Hiya Bob,

Say 30min?

Whilst it is easy in terms of difficulty, there are a few tricky bits - removal of gear stick trim requires force which is unnerving as does splitting the original lock-out. Tbh, I rate my competence as relatively low and I managed it :giggle:
This guy highlights the tricky bits but he does make a mistake with the o-ring at the end.

Haha, i had the same issue with my 350 knob, and then with my oem knob, turns out it was literally 1/100th of a turn off centre and the lockout collar was catching on the inside of the knob and stopping it from dropping back down (without pinging it down)

I read it, my point was that, regardless on how much you put it on, remove it, repeat, if you twist it too tight it can catch inside the knob.
