Anyone know of a writeup on how to time these motors the "correct" way? Doing my OPG soon and I'm not a huge fan of the marking the tooth with white-out method...especially when also replacing the crank gear as you have to visually match the same tooth the chain came off of.

I know the chains have dark links that align with the timing marks on the cams but I can't find any procedural information on how/when/where to rotate the motor over when removing the chains in order to make sure it isn't 180 off.

We will have a You tube video posted shortly and will add the link to your post once it is up. It will also be added under our support section.

In the meantime here is a great OP gear install which also touched base on some of your questions: http://modularmotorsportsracing.com/wp/support/

Yea, I have read through that a few times. Chatted a bit with the OP of that writeup. His writeup doesn't include the crank gear and he said he did that later. Also he recommend using the timing marks now instead of the white-out method. Looking forward to your how-to video. Just trying to do my homework before I dig into the install and realize I'm missing information. Thanks for responding.

Its a whole lot easier and less room for error if you just make your own marks on the chain an take them both off at the same time. Rather than lining up marks on one side taking it off an then rotating the engine to the other marks an taking other chain off. Thats how i did mine.

That was my plan...but if you also change the crank pulley, is it difficult to keep the chain on the correct tooth? You aren't marking the new one after all...

No its not difficult at all i changed timing sprocket too at the same time. When you get the old one off just set it on top of the new one line the keyways up an transfer your marks over.

Cool. I was hoping it was that simple. Just didn't want to get the old one off, compare it to the new one and it be just different enough to cause questions. You are pretty much screwed at that point. Lol. Thanks.

Yea 11-14 rotate counter clockwise crank keyway from 12 oclock position to 9 oclock. 2015 clockwise from 12 to 5 position. Much easier to just remove both at once from 12 position
