So that means you have to stump £2K then?

Does anyone know what the situation is with the 2K tax? How much are Ford paying?
They really should pay it all, on FB and such i've seen the following:
Dealers paying all tax
Dealers paying pre rise tax (c1k)
Dealers paying no tax

Honestly think nobody has a clue, legally they have points 1 and 2 to somewhat fulfil, point 1 is dealers 'best interest' for a good Brand customer relationship, option 2, is what they're legally obliged to do as per the OTR price, if it rises 1k+ (the car) you maybe able to barter your way out of it...

They probably however wont pay for it all, not for the preorder batch. Not sure the legalities on paying car tax for dealers.

Presumably the unspent tax on the written off vehicle is returned then? Does that happen with first year tax?

Legally they're obliged to put him in an X month old car with X miles on it. Due to the rarity of secondhand cars they're doing him a favour by paying for a brand new one. Still worth asking about it though.

Fair enough, as i said, no idea on the legalities, but i was more refering to legalities of FORD paying for the tax, which should be included in the OTR/£

That's why I asked; are they still making that offer on orders taken now?
Well last i heard is they'd pay the 1k as that's the OTR price, but if the car comes after the tax changes, you have to fork up as it's outside of contract

That is exactly correct Manders. I hAve it on my initial deposit form that I am aware of tax changes and will need to pay difference.

Not true for all insurers. Aviva provide a new car replacement policy whereby if I write off my car in a total loss in first 12 months then they replace with brand new. From year 2 onwards it would be as you describe but that is why I took out 5 years of GAP providing new car replacement in the event of any loss (capped to £22500 above insurance payout). Not that I plan writing it off in year 5 but best to be covered.
